Application
Intended use
The Scio Four module samples gas from the breathing gas of
pediatric patients and adults. It continuously measures the con-
centration of CO
, N
O, and anesthetic agents (Halothane, Isoflu-
2
2
rane, Enflurane, Sevoflurane, and Desflurane) in the breathing
gas as well as the O
concentration (optional). All measured val-
2
ues as well as derived values are communicated to a patient mon-
itor.
Indications
The intended medical indication for the Scio Four module is the
need to continuously monitor respiratory gas concentrations
according to the intended use.
Contraindications
No known contraindications.
Environment of use
The gas analyzer is designed for use inside professional health-
care facilities in rooms in which therapeutic or diagnostic interven-
tions are carried out.
WARNING
Risk of explosion or fire
This medical device must not be used in areas where oxy-
gen concentrations exceed 25 %, or where combustible or
explosive gas mixtures are likely to occur.
WARNING
Risk of device failure and/or patient injury and user injury
Magnetic fields can negatively influence the correct func-
tioning of the medical device and therefore endanger the
patient or user.
Do not use the medical device near magnetic resonance
imagers (MRI, NMR).
WARNING
Risk of device failure
Do not obstruct or close off the fan on the medical device.
Air must be able to enter freely. Otherwise the medical
device may become too hot.
WARNING
Risk of fire
Place the medical device at least 25 cm (10 in) from any
ignition sources such as electrosurgery and laser surgery.
WARNING
Risk of infection
Clean and disinfect the device before usage (including first
usage), maintenance, and disposal.
WARNING
Risk due to falling device
To avoid injury, place the medical device on a secure and
level platform or use optional mounting accessories avail-
able from Dräger.
Supplement Scio Four modules
WARNING
Risk of strangulation
Negligent placement of sample line, cables, and similar
device components can endanger the patient.
Use particular diligence when establishing connections to
the patient.
CAUTION
Risk of tripping
Do not place the power supply unit, cables, and sample line on
the ground. Place them carefully and securely.
Furthermore, do not use the gas analyzer outside of solid build-
ings, during patient transport or in ground vehicles or aircraft.
Observe the environmental specifications like temperature,
humidity, and atmospheric pressure.
