Dit hoofdstuk gaat over de behandeling van de problemen die specifiek zijn voor een hemiplegiepatiënt en
over de behandeling van de spasticitei,t die men niet alleen terugvindt bij hemiplegiepatiënten, maar ook
bij de meeste aandoeningen van het centrale zenuwstelsel (tetraplegie, paraplegie, multiple sclerose, enz.).
De praktische behandelingsmethoden die in dit hoofdstuk worden voorgesteld, zijn gebaseerd op de

De behandelingen die in dit hoofdstuk werden ontwikkeld, worden toegepast door middel van de
programma's van de categorie Neurologische revalidatie.
Sommige van die programma's vereisen dat elke contractie manueel wordt gestimuleerd. Alle gebruikte
programma's verminderen de spasticiteit, wanneer ze correct op de antagonisten van de spastische
spieren worden toegepast. Sommige programma's zijn enkel aangewezen om de spasticiteit te
behandelen, andere zijn aangewezen voor de behandeling van situaties of complicaties die eigen zijn aan
de hemiplegiepatiënt, met name: functionele neuromusculaire elektrostimulatie van de voet en subluxatie
van de schouder.
