f) Cycle program ("CYCLE")
To test batteries, format new batteries or refresh older batteries, you can automatically run up to 5 cycles in suc-
cession. Both the combinations "charge/discharge" ("CHG> DCHG") and "discharge/charge" ("DCHG>CHG") are
possible.
The values you have previously set in the charging program ("CHARGE") and discharge program
("DISCHARGE") are used as the charging and discharging currents.
Proceed as follows:
• As described in Chapter 12. a), set the battery type (NiMH or NiCd) and
select the battery program "CYCLE".
The set battery type is shown top left on the display and the battery
program next to it on the right.
The indicator at the bottom left stands for the respective combination "charge/discharge" ("CHG> DCHG") or
"discharge/charge" ("DCHG> CHG"); the number of cycles currently set is indicated bottom right.
Use the "INC" or "DEC" buttons to select a different battery program; return to the main menu with the button
"BATT/PROG/STOP".
• Briefly press the button "ENTER/START" if you want to select a different cycle mode or to set the number of
cycles. The indicator „CHG> DCHG" or "DCHG>CHG" flashes.
• Select the desired cycle mode with the "INC" or "DEC" buttons.
"CHG>DCHG" = charge + subsequent discharge
"DCHG>CHG" = discharge + subsequent charge
• Press the „ENTER/START" button briefly; the number of cycles starts flashing (indicating how often the currently
set sequence of charge/discharge or discharge/charge is conducted).
• Use the "INC" or "DEC" buttons to set the number of cycles (1 - 5 cycles are possible).
• Press the "ENTER/START" button briefly to confirm your setting. The indicator stops flashing.
• Press and hold the "ENTER/START" button (approx. 3 seconds) to start the cycle mode.
The charger will beep if the settings are wrong or a malfunction is detected and the corresponding informati-
on is displayed on the screen. End the warning signal with the "BATT/PROG/STOP" button, and the charger
will go back to the previous setup menu.
During the process of charging or discharging, the following data may be displayed on the screen:
The battery type ("NiMH" = NiMH battery) is shown at the top left, the
charging or discharging current top centre and the current battery voltage
top right.
Bottom left has the current battery program ("C>D" = charging/discharging, "D>C" = discharging/charging); the
elapsed charge/discharged time is in the middle, and to the right is the charged or discharged capacity in mAh.
• An audible signal sounds (if this feature has not been turned off) when the cycle mode is complete.
Press the "BATT/PROG/STOP" button if you wish to abort the cycle mode.
