6. INSTALLATION
See appendix Nr 4 – Valve assembly and filling instruction & appendix Nr 3 – Post Filling Checks.
7. OPERATION
The medical gas is not an integrated part of the medical device. Gas therapy must be
EN
prescribed by a healthcare professional only.
7.1. OPERATIONS PERFORMED BY THE USER (BEFORE USE)
Contact a relevant filling station or manufacturer if you need help with the maintenance or
unexpected operation of the combination valve.
7.1.1. VISUAL INSPECTION BEFORE USE:
•
Check the combination valve for damage (incl. label and marking). If it shows signs of external
damages, remove the medical device from service and suitably identify its status.
•
Check the combination valve for contamination. If needed apply the cleaning process
described in this instructions for use.
Check that the cylinder gas pressure indicator indicates sufficient pressure. If it indicates in
•
the red zone, return the cylinder with combination valve back for filling.
7.1.2. LEAKAGE CHECK AND FUNCTIONAL TEST BEFORE USE:
•
If applicable remove the protection elements (e.g. caps, plugs, covers). Keep them in a safe
place for reuse during transport or storage.
•
Set flow control head (if any) on the ZERO position - ensure the flow control head engages
correctly.
Slowly open the shut-off valve handwheel (anticlockwise) until fully open - after approx. 1 turn.
•
•
Check for leakage by listening (leakage would be heard as the characteristic hiss of flowing
gas).
Check that there is a gas flow at each flow control head set position in both clockwise and
•
anticlockwise turning direction (for instance by sound or checking presence of bubbles in a
humidifier).
•
Close the shut-off valve (clockwise). Do not use excessive torque (max. closing torque is 5
Nm).
Reset the flow control head to ZERO position and ensure the flow control head engages
•
correctly.
•
For a combination valve fitted with a pressure outlet, ensure it is in working condition by
connecting and disconnecting quick-coupler probe.
If any leakage is detected, use the procedure in chapter 7.3 and return the medical device to
the provider.
Sudden opening could result in a danger of fire or explosion arising from oxygen pressure
shocks.
7.2. USE OF THE COMBINATION VALVE
7.2.1. USE OF THE COMBINATION VALVE FLOW OUTLET AND SETTING OF FLOW:
Ensure the flow control head is in position "0".
•
•
Ensure that the hose/cannula is compatible with the flow outlet features and is well secured.
•
Connect associated equipment to the flow outlet.
Slowly open shut-off valve handwheel (anticlockwise) until fully open - after approx. 1 turn (see
•
indication in picture chapter 5).
•
Set flow head to required flow position which corresponds to value pointed by the triangular
pointer. Ensure flow control head engages correctly.
Before connecting any associated equipment to the flow outlet make sure that the patient is
not connected.
