Note
The O-rings installed as standard are primarily suitable for water. If a medium other
than water is pumped, a suitable material must be selected.
2.3.2 Floating ring seal
The pump room is sealed at the motor shaft by a floating ring seal. A small leakage is necessary for
lubrication. Residues may be visible if antifreeze additives or similar are used.
If the pump is not in operation for a longer period of time, it should be put into operation briefly at
regular intervals to avoid increased leakage.
Note
Water additives, especially abrasive materials, can damage the floating ring seal
(increased leakage). Furthermore, no negative pressure must be created at the
floating ring seal.
