Safety Considerations

These instructions for use (IFU) are valid only for AlphaTec® 6500 Limited Use Gas Tight protective suit
• The suit may only be used by trained personnel who are familiar with the contents of this IFU.
• Use the suit only for the purposes specified herein.
• Do not use a damaged or incomplete suit, and do not modify the suit.
• For repair and maintenance, only use genuine AlphaTec® spare parts, or the function may be impaired.
1.1 Definitions of alert wording used in the instructions
The following alert words are used in this IFU to highlight the user on situations or actions that need special attention not to risk the safety of user, suit or environment.
! WARNING - Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
! CAUTION - Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in physical injury, or damage to product or environment.
! NOTICE -
Indicates additional information on how to use the suit.
Important Note: For detailed instructions on the safe use of ancillary PPE (respiratory device, gloves and boots) please refer to the manufacturer's instructions. For gloves and boots supplied with
AlphaTec® 6500 Gas-Tight suits the instructions for use documents for these items are included within the packaging.

2. Description of Suit

AlphaTec® 6500 is a Limited Use Gas Tight chemical protective suit
• Intended for use with a positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and a
full-face mask*
• Single-skin, i.e. no overcover is needed
• Limited Use
AlphaTec® 6500 is available in the following design
• Encapsulating suit/type 1a, designed for use with an SCBA worn inside the suit.
The suit is fitted with:
• Sewn-in socks or attached boots
• Waist belt - waist of the suit is supported by means of an internal belt which must ALWAYS
be worn.
• Replaceable gloves
An optional pass-through is also available for all models (see section 10)
The following accessories are delivered with every suit:
• Maintenance kit for zipper
• Hex tool and retaining cuff ring tool for external glove locking system
• Instructions for use
• AlphaTec® AF3 anti-fog spray
* The suit will accommodate the major brands of SCBAs, such as Interspiro, Scott,
Dräger and MSA.

For European users the SCBA must be certified to EN 137.
The suit has to be worn with overboots, if sock version, and a safety helmet.

3. European EU Type Approval

AlphaTec® 6500 is CE-marked and has EU type approval under the EU Regulation 2016/425 on
Personal Protective Equipment and the following European standards:
• EN 943-1: 2015+A1: 2019 Protective clothing against liquid and gaseous chemicals,
• EN14126: 2003 Type 1a-B infective agents protection
AlphaTec® 6500 has also been tested and is compliant to EN 943-2:2019 with the exception of
the low temperature practical performance requirement.
AlphaTec® 6500 has been approved by notified body no 0200;
FORCE Certification A/S, Park Allé 345, DK-2605 Bröndby, Denmark.

4. Proper Use

4.1 Intended Use

The suit protects against chemicals in gaseous, liquid, aerosol and solid form. It also protects
against infectious agents, i.e. bacteria, virus and fungi.

4.2 Limitations of Use

• Avoid extensive heat and open flames.
• The suit is not intended for firefighting.
• The suit does not protect against radiation i.e. alfa, beta, gamma or X-ray radiation.
• Avoid explosive environments.
