mg Dolby NR System
Dolby NR systems are designed to reduce the amount of tape
hiss, mainly in the treble components. During recording, the
high-pitched pianissimo sounds which are most character-
istic of audible noise are boosted, and during playback, only
these boosted sections are attenuated, so that tape sound is
returned to normal. As a result, the noise is attenuated by an
amount equal to the boosting in the treble range. The Dolby
B-type NR system reduces noise in the treble range, cutting
tape hiss and expanding the dynamic range.

Les systémes de réduction du bruit Dolby sont concus pour
réduire le souffle de la bande dans Jes composantes aigués.
Pendant l'enregistrement, les sons pianissimo aigus qui sont
les plus caractéristiques des bruits audibles sont accentués
et, pendant la lecture, seules ces sections accentuées sont
atténuées, de sorte que le son de la bande est ramené a la
normale. De ce fait, le bruit est atténué d'une quantité égale
a l'accentuation dans la plage des aigus. Le systeme de réduc-
tion de bruit Dolby de type B réduit le bruit dans la plage des
aigus, coupant le souffle de la bande et augmentant la gamme
dynamique.

Heét Dolby-systeem is ontwikkeld om de bandruis, welke het
meest
hinderlijk is in de hogere frekwenties, te onder-
drukken. Het systeem werkt als volgt: tiidens opnemen wor-
den de hogere frekwenties van
gering niveau versterkt
opgenomen en bij weergave worden deze passages weer tot
het oorspronkelijke niveau verzwakt. Bij het verzwakken wordt
tevens de ruis in de hogere frekwenties verzwakt met als
resultaat een aanzienlijk betere geluidskwaliteit. Het Dolby-
B systeem reduceert de ruis in de hogere frekwenties en ver-
groot het dynamische bereik.

gradually increases to the set level when the timer operates.)
NOTE:
The timer playback operates every day at the set time.
To stop
the timer, perform the operations described in the section "To stop
the timer operation" (= P, 60).

@ Select the broadcast to be recorded.
@ insert the cassette tape to be recorded.

the side of the tape facing up in the tray.)

When the timer is set, sound from other units cannot be heard
through the speakers. The volume is set to the minimum level.

Timer recording is only used to record a radio broadcast
(AM/FM) to a cassette tape.

The timer recording only operates one time.
Perform the pro-
_ cedures described in the section"To restart the timer " (= P.60)
to repeat the operation with the same settings because the set-
ting contents are memorized.

When timer playback and timer recording are set consecu-
tively, the stop and start times must be separated at least one
minute. If the same time is set from the end of one setting to
the beginning of the other, the timer may not operate.

/f the timer operation range overlaps, the timer that sets the
final operation will not function. If the start time is the same,
the timer priority is set in this order:@® TIMER REC, @ WAKE-
UP 1 or WAKE-UP 2.

/fthere is a mistake in the contents of a timer setting, perform
the setting operation from the beginning.

/fno operation is performed during a setting, the setting is can-
celed after 10 seconds.

Press the (G) button to stop in the middle of a setting.
