RECORDING TO A CASSETTE TAPE (1) }

Use either TYPE ! (Normal) or TYPE II (High/CrO:) cassettes.
1. Insert a cassette.
@ Press the open/close button (4).
@ Load the cassette in the tray.
@
Place the side of the cassette so its exposed tape faces the
rear of the unit.
@® Press the open/close button (A).
2. With the input selector set for TAPE, select the desired
DOLBY NR mode.
® Press the
button until [DOLBY OFF] or [DOLBY B] is
displayed.
@® Press the & or §3 button until OFF or B (ON) is displayed.
3. Set the input selector to the desired recording source.
@
Press the (¥) button and select either FM or AM.
@ After the CD PLAY button (>/II) is pressed to select the CD,
press the CD STOP button to stop the playback.

Press the function button (FUNC.) and select AUX input.
4. Press the record/pause button (REC/11)

Recording standby (pause) is set.

The record/pause button (REC/I) indicator lights.
5. Press the desired record direction PLAY button.

Ifthe PLAY (») button is pressed, recording starts on the
Aside (») and then continues on the B side (4) (dual side
recording).

\|fthe PLAY (4) button is pressed, recording starts but only
the B side (+4) is recorded (single side recording).
@
Play the desired selection on the source unit. When AUX
is used, perform the playback operation on the unit that is
connected.

The input selector cannot be changed during recording.
(The input selector can only be changed while the recording
is paused.)

Cassettes which have the erasure prevention tab removed can-
not be recorded on (s P, 5).
@ At the beginning and end of cassette tapes, there is approxi-
mately 5 seconds of leader tape (connecting tape that cannot
be recorded on).
@
The sound quality adjustment (« P. 54, 56) does not affect the
recording quality.

This unit is equipped with the ALC (Auto Level Control) func-
tion which automatically adjusts the recording level.
@
When a cassette is loaded in the tray and the A side faces up,
» operates the A side, and « operates the B side.
