Review the "CONNECTIONS"
section and confirm that the
speakers and antennas are connected properly.
ifthe power plug is inserted in an outlet, the time display flash-
es (STANDBY mode). If the power plug is pulled out while the
power is on, the power goes on when the plug is inserted again.
System power turns ON if the POWER switch is pressed.
System power goes OFF if the switch is pressed again.

Only the time is displayed when the power is OFF (STANDBY).
The time can be displayed even if the power is turned ON but
the display changes during STANDBY as shown in the Fig. 1.

Perform the following operation to turn the system on when
the power is off (STANDBY).
® Press the tuner button.
The power turns on and the input selector switches automat-
ically to tuner.
© Press the CD PLAY {»>}/I! (pause) button.
The power turns on and the input selector switches automat-
ically to CD. When a CD has already been loaded, play starts.
© Press the TAPE PLAY (~ ») button.
The power turns on and the input selector switches automat-
ically to tape. When a cassette has already been loaded, play
starts.
© Insert a CD.
If a disc is inserted, the power turns on and play starts.
€ Press the CD eject button {4}.
The power turns on and the inserted disc is ejected.
© Press the cassette tray open/close button (4).
The power turns on and the tray opens.
