7.2.2 Care for your belt drive
Wash the belt with water to remove debris. Acceptable temperature range for belt is from -53 °C (-65°F) to
+85 °C (+185°F).
7.2.3 Operating the hub gears
Familiarize yourself with the functions of the gear shift before entering road traffic. If you operate the gear
shift incorrectly, this may cause damage. The Enviolo continuously variable transmission does not have classic
gears, but is continuously variable. The gear shift is located in the rear wheel hub. You can switch up and
down using the twist-grip control.
7.2.4 Using the continuously variable transmission
Use the twist-grip control (1), you can read the selected transmission on the display (2) as follow;
Display (2) "flat": low pedalling frequency for flat paths.
●
Display (2) "ascent": high pedalling frequency for ascending paths.
●
Turn the twist-grip control (1):
●
•
Backwards (in the opposite direction of the travel) in order to switch up (reducing the pedal
frequency; propelling the bike becomes heavier).
•
To the front (in the direction of travel) to switch down (to increase the pedal frequency propelling
the bike becomes easier).
7.2.5 Adjusting the continuously variable transmission
If the gear shift is incorrectly adjusted it may damage during use. Only adjust the settings of the continuously
variable transmission yourself if you have practiced doing so and if you possess the required knowledge.
Otherwise, contact a Carqon dealer. Change the position of the adjusting nut (2) if the transmission no longer
functions properly. If you are uncertain when operating the gear shift or if you have problems with it, this may
distract you from the road traffic.
Turn the adjusting nut carefully
●
•
in a clockwise direction if the clearance is less than 0.5 mm/0.02".
•
in an anti-clockwise direction if the clearance is greater than 1.5 mm/0.06".
Check whether an improvement has been made and if required repeat the previous step.
