Beware of electrical current!
Damaged power supply cables can cause fatal inju-
ry! Defective cables must be replaced by a qualified
electrician immediately.
Beware of damp!
Moisture penetrating cables can damage them and
render them useless. Therefore, never immerse ca-
ble ends in the pumped fluid or other liquids.
The machine must be protected from direct sunlight,
heat, dust, and frost. Heat and frost can cause con-
siderable damage to propellers, rotors and coatings.
The rotors or propellers must be turned at regular
intervals. This prevents the bearing from locking and
the film of lubricant on the mechanical shaft seal is re-
newed. This also prevents the gear pinions (if present
on the product) from becoming fixed as they turn and
also renews the lubricating film on the gear pinions
(preventing rust film deposits).
Beware of sharp edges!
Sharp edges can form on rotors and propellers.
There is a risk of injuries. Wear protective gloves.
If the product has been stored for a long period of
time it should be cleaned of impurities such as dust
and oil deposits before start-up. Rotors and propellers
should be checked for smooth running, housing coat-
ing and damage.
After storage longer than one year the oil of motor
and, if necessary the gear have to be changed. This
is also necessary if the product never had run (natural
deterioration of mineral oil).
Before start-up, the filling levels (oil, cooling fluid
etc.) of the individual products should be checked and
topped up if required. Please refer to the machine data
sheet for specifications on filling. Damaged coatings
should be repaired immediately. Only a coating that
is completely intact fulfills the criteria for intended
usage!
If these rules are observed, your product can be stored
for a longer period. Please remember that elastomer parts
and coatings become brittle naturally. If the product is
to be stored for longer than 6 months, we recommend
checking these parts and replacing them as necessary.
Please consult the manufacturer.

4.4. Returning to the supplier

Products which are delivered to the plant must be clean
and correctly packaged. In this context, clean means
that impurities have been removed and decontaminat-
ed if it has been used with materials which are hazard-
ous to health. The packaging must protect the product
against damage. Please contact the manufacturer before
returning!

5. Setting up and starting up

5.1. General

In order to prevent damage to the pump while setting it
up and operating it, the following points are to be ensured:
Setting-up work is to be carried out by qualified per-
sonnel in compliance with the safety regulations.
Before being set up, the pump is to be checked for
any damage.
In the case of level control systems, the minimum
water cover is to be ensured.
Air inclusions in the pump housing and pipework
must absolutely be prevented (by suitable venting de-
vices or by slightly tilting the pump).
Protect the pump against frost.
The operating space must be designed for the rele-
vant machine. This also means that a hoist for assem-
bly/disassembly can be installed with which the place
of installation of the pump can be reached safely.
The hoist must display a maximum weight-bearing
capacity that exceeds the weight of the pump with
attached parts and cables.
The current leads of the pump must be laid so that
operation is safe and assembly/disassembly is easy.
The current leads in the operating space must be
correctly secured in order to prevent cables hanging
loosely. Depending on cable length and weight, a ca-
ble support must be attached every 2-3m.
The foundation/building must have adequate struc-
tural strength for securing the pump safely and in a
proper functional manner. The plant operator is re-
sponsible for this.
Running dry is most strictly forbidden. We recom-
mend a level control system for this purpose.

5.2. Installation

Hazard due to falling.
During the installation of the pump and its accesso-
ries, work is done directly at the edge of the basin. In-
attentiveness or incorrect footwear may cause a fall.
There is a danger of a fatal accident. Take all safety
precautions in order to prevent this.
Fasten the pressure pipe or hose at the discharge outlet
of the pump and lay the pressure pipe. If a threaded hose
or pipe connection is used, the hose nipple can be cut off
at the connections of the pump. In order to ensure opti-
mal handling capacity, the pressure pipe should display
a diameter corresponding to the pressure outlet of the
pump. In order to prevent return flow of the water when
the pump is switched off, a check valve can in addition
be fitted in the pressure pipe. The pressure pipe must be
assembled free of any tension.
If a spiral hose is used as a pressure pipe, it should be
remembered that a commercially available spiral hose has
a bursting pressure of 6 bar. This pressure resistance may
be too low for the operation of high-pressure submers-
ible-motor pumps. Use only spiral hose that displays a
suitable pressure resistance for the type of pump involved.
If the pump is installed horizontally, this must be done in a
pipe. This is the only way to ensure that the engine flows
around properly and is thus also cooled. Secure the pump
at the handle with rope or chain, and use it to lower the
