PRECAUTIONS AGAINST KICKBACK
This chain saw is equipped with a chain brake, which in
case of a kickback of the saw the chain stops immediately -
provided that the braking device is working properly. For
this reason, the function of the Chain brake must be
checked before starting any work. To do this, have the
chain saw run at full throttle for 1-2 seconds, then press
the chain saw forward against the handguard with your
hand.
The chain must now stop immediately at the highest
engine speed. If the chain stops only hesitantly or not at all,
replace the brake band and clutch drum during start-up.
It is of the utmost importance that the chain is checked for
proper function before starting work. The chain must
always be kept sharp to provide the highest possible safety
against recoil. Removal of the safety devices, insufficient
maintenance or improper replacement of the chain stay or
chain pose an increased safety risk that can cause serious
injury through kickback.
