CAUTION Kickback of the chainsaw can be caused by the tip of the chain bar coming into
contact with a solid object, or if the wood being cut compresses and jams the chain bar during
cutting.
In some cases, contact between the tip of the chain bar and a solid object can cause the chain
bar to strike back at lightning speed, throwing it backwards and upwards towards the
operator. Pinching the saw-chain at the upper part of the chain bar can cause the chain bar to
bounce back and towards the operator with a quick movement. If either of these events
occurs, you could lose control of the chainsaw, which could result in serious injury.
Do not rely solely on the chainsaw's built-in safety features. As a user of this device, you must
take some precautions to ensure that all work with the saw can be performed without
accident or injury
If you become reasonably familiar with the causes and characteristics of kickback, you will
reduce or eliminate the element of surprise, which eliminates a common cause of accidents.
32. Mounting the blade and the saw-chain
ATTENTION: Always wear safety gloves when handling the saw-chain!
Mounting the saw bar and saw chain
•
Release chain brake (10) (engage hand guard to the rear)
•
Unscrew the fastening screws (12) and remove the sprocket protection
•
Put the saw chain around the sprocket. Make sure that the direction of
the arrow on the chain is the same as that on the sprocket.
•
Put the saw-bar on and push it in the direction of the sprocket
•
Insert the saw-chain into the guide groove of the saw-bar
•
Put the saw-chain around the saw-bar
Ensure correct seating in the guide groove
•
Put on sprocket cover
•
Chain tension pin must engage in the hole of the saw-bar
•
First slightly tighten the fixing screws (12)
•
Tensioning the saw chain
•
Slightly lift the tip of the saw-bar
•
Check the saw-chain for proper running by turning it by hand
•
Turn the tensioning screw (11) clockwise until the chain rests against the underside of
the saw-bar
•
Tighten the fixing screw (12)
Run in the saw-chain. A new saw chain and bar must be re-tensioned after a maximum of five
cuts.
ATTENTION
New chains stretch during the initial period of use. For this reason, check the chain tension
frequently and adjust it if necessary, as a loose chain can easily jump off or cause rapid wear of
the chain and chain stay.
