5. Installation and Start-Up

5.1. General

In order to prevent damage to the pump station or seri-
ous injury during installation the following points must be
observed:
Installation work may only be carried out by qualified
persons. The safety instructions must be followed at
all times.
The pump must be inspected for damages before any
installation work is carried out.
The operating area must be laid out for each machine.
You must ensure that lifting gear can be fitted without
any trouble, since this is required for assembly and
removal of the machine.
The maximum bearing capacity must be greater than
the weight of the pump station, add-on units and ca-
ble.
The structural components and foundations must be
of sufficient stability to ensure safe and functional op-
eration. The operator or supplier is responsible for the
provision.

5.2. Installation place

Danger of falling!
Installation work for the pump station and its ac-
cessories is performed directly on the embankment.
Carelessness or wearing inappropriate clothing
could result in a fall. There is a risk of fatal injury!
Take all necessary safety precautions to prevent this.
Please pay attention to the local regulations for con-
structions and authorisations. After pump installation
the manhole must be capped by a cover correspond-
ing to class A. Please pay attention to the regulations
for lifting gears and manhole. All underground, con-
crete and mason's work should be done by an expert.
Choose the installation place by taking into account the
local regulations und the following points:
Existing supply and disposal installations must be
easy accessible.
Never install the pump station close to windows and
doors.
Make sure that the inlet pipes have enough natural
fall.
The pump station corresponds class A (5kN).

5.3. Construction pit

The construction pit must be prepared in accordance with
current regulations and safety instructions:
DIN 4033 - drainage and sewerage
DIN 18300 - earthwork
Preparing the construction pit:
Excavate the construction pit to no more than 50cm
and no less than 30cm deeper than the depth re-
quired for shaft installation.
Construct the foundation. Use cohesive soil with a
particle size of 2 - 32 and strip evenly.
Compress the foundation to 97% DPr.
Insert shaft, then align it vertically and horizontally.
Install shaft cover/ bearing ring.
Topsoil, clay, other cohesive soils and, as a rule, the
excavated soil are not suitable for backfilling. As fill-
er material, please use non-cohesive soil, free of
pointy and sharp-edged components, with a particle
size of 2 to 32 mm. Condense to 97% DPr in 30 cm
thick layers.
Backfill the construction pit to the level of the supply
line connections, using suitable material.
Condense evenly, proceeding with caution.
Cut intake opening for the required nominal diameter
and deburr cutting edges. Connect the intake to the
pumping station with a double sleeve.
Continue to fill in and compress further in the same
way and set up the other connections.
All connections should be set up free of tension - the
ground below the connections should be compressed
prior to installation.
Lay the cable duct for power supply and level control,
at least DN 100, with taut wire at the installation site
of the enclosure. Lay the cable duct with a constant
upward gradient. Changes of direction should be
made with R = min. 3 x DN.
If necessary, a ventilation unit is to be connected.
If necessary, balancing rings - max. 3 pieces - should
be set up for height adjustment at ground level.
Any shaft extensions should be set up vertically in
the correct angular position for intakes and climbing
elements.
If necessary, cut PE shaft extensions to length and
chamfer them prior to installation. Remove the cast
ring from the shaft immediately prior to installation
and insert the shaft extension.
The connection between the PE shaft and the PE
shaft extension requires professional welding in order
to ensure water tightness against pressurized water
or overfilling of the shaft. You also have the option of
having a finished shaft extension delivered to you that
is already fully sealed.

5.4. Protection against lifting

Under normal conditions the pump station SK 6 or SK 9 is
carry out for a ground water level of 0,5 meter below the
pit surface without lifting. Is the ground water level high-
er, it is the possibility to protect the pump station against
lifting as follows:
1.
Place the pump station in the green concrete of the
granular subbase.
2.
Fill up the pump station with water and fill up the ex-
cavation with concrete.

5.5. Installation

Pump
Use the instruction manual which is attached by the de-
livered pump.
Fittings
The fittings are preinstalled and need no additional work.
