11. General information on controlling model
helicopters
Before operating your model for the first time, you should first get to know the available control options. The model
helicopter is controlled via the two joysticks on the remote control transmitter. The functions described in the following
are available.
Pitch function
The altitude function enables you to control the altitude of the helicopter (see Figure 8). Steering is carried out with
the left joystick (see also Figure 1, no. 9). To do this, you can move the joystick up and down from the middle position.
Since the angle of incidence of the two main rotor blades cannot be changed in relation to each other, the flight altitude
is adjusted by changing the speed of the main rotor.
When the joystick is in the middle position, the helicopter hovers at a constant altitude. If you move the joystick up,
the speed of the main rotor will increase and the model helicopter will ascend (see dark arrows in Figure 8). If you
move the joystick down, the speed of the main rotor will decrease and the model helicopter will descend (see light
arrows in Figure 8).
