Safety Instructions
WARNING! Read these instructions care-
fully before operating this machine. Make
sure to make yourself familiar with the
controls, so that the machine can be oper-
ated properly. Following these instructions
to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock
and personal injury. Save all instructions
and warnings for future reference.
1) TRAINING
a) Read the instructions carefully. Become
familiar with the owner's manual before
attempting to operate the machine.
b) Never allow children or people unfamil-
iar with these instructions to use the
machine. Local regulations can restrict
the age of the operator.
c) Never operate while people, especially
children, or pets are nearby.
d) Keep in mind that the operator or user
is responsible for accidents or hazards
occurring to other people or their prop-
erty.
e) Never operate the machine when you
are tired, ill or under the influence of
alcohol, drugs or medicine.
2) PREPARATION
a) This machine can cause serious inju-
ries. Read the instructions carefully
for the correct handling, preparation,
maintenance, starting and stopping of
the machine. Become familiar with all
controls and the proper use of the ma-
chine.
b) Beware of overhead power lines.
c) Avoid operating while people, especial-
ly children, are nearby.
d) Dress properly! Do not wear loose cloth-
ing or jewellery, which can be caught
in moving parts. Use of sturdy gloves,
protective clothing, nonskid footwear
and safety glasses is recommended.
e) Use extra care when handling fuels.
They are flammable and the vapours
are explosive. The following points
should be observed:
- Use only an approved fuel container.
- Never remove the fuel cap or add fuel
while the engine is running.
- Allow engine and exhaust compo-
nents to cool down before refuelling.
- Never store the machine or fuel con-
tainer inside where there is an open
flame, such as a water heater.
- If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to
start the engine, but move the ma-
chine away from the spillage before
starting.
- Always replace and securely tighten
the fuel cap after refuelling.
- If the fuel tank is drained, this should
be done outdoors.
f) If the cutting mechanism strikes any
foreign object or the machine starts
making any unusual noise or vibration,
shut off the engine and allow the ma-
chine to completely stop. Disconnect
the spark plug and take the following
steps:
- Inspect the machine for damage.
- Check for and tighten any loose parts
or screws.
- Have any damages parts replaced or
repaired with parts having equivalent
specifications.
g) The handle must be installed to the en-
gine shaft only.
3) OPERATION
a) This machine should not be used for
any other purpose than described.
b) While operating, always wear substan-
tial footwear and long trousers. Do not
operate the machine when barefoot or
wearing open sandals. Wear protective
glasses or goggles.
c) Thoroughly inspect the area where the
machine is to be used and remove all
objects which can be thrown by the ma-
chine.
d) Before using the machine and after any
impact, check for signs of wear or dam-
age and repair as necessary.
e) Never operate the machine with dam-
aged guards or without the guards in
