4.5. Unloading of big pumps

Big pumps are specially packed for transport. Follow
these steps to avoid damaging the pump:
Danger! Floating load! Observe all rules and laws for
work with heavy and floating loads.
Place the packaging on a solid ground. Two lifting de-
vices must be at the location.
Fix the first transport belt at the pump housing and at
the first lifting devices.
Fix the second transport belt at both eyes of the mo-
tor housing cover and at the second lifting devices.
The lifting devices must be dimensioned to lift the
pump with any remaining pumped media in it.
Tauten both transport belts and remove the transpor-
tation straps.
Lift the pump slowly and hold it in balance.
Remove the packaging and the locking device (if ex-
isting). Removing of locking device is descripting on
the next Chapter.
Turn the pump with both lifting devices in vertical po-
sition.
If the pump is in vertical position, place the pump on
the ground and protect the pump from tilting over.

4.6. Locking device

The locking device is on the suction port and consists of
a thread rod with U-steel. This protects the pump during
the transport for damage. Before installing the pump the
locking device must be removed. Also the locking device
must be installed again, if you will be transport or stock
the pump.

After removing the locking device, the pump must be
returned in a vertical position immediately.

5. Installation and initial commissioning

5.1. General

lift horizontally
To avoid damage to the lifting unit during installation and
operation, the following points must be observed:
Bring the pump in a horizontal position (see previous
chapter).
Screw the hex-nut off the thread rod.
Remove the U-steel.
Remove the thread rod.
Install the cylinder bolt into the shaft (included in de-
livery).
The mounting will be done in reserved order.
The installation work must be performed by qualified
personnel, in compliance with safety regulations.
The pump must be inspected for damage prior to
installation.
For level controls, pay attention to the minimum wa-
ter coverage.
Air bubbles in the pump housing and pipework must
be avoided (by suitable ventilation devices or a slight
incline of the pump).
Protect the pump from frost.
The operating room must be designed for the partic-
ular machine. This also means that a lifting device for
assembly/disassembly can be mounted, from which
the installation space of the pump can be reached
without risk.
The lifting device must have a maximum load capaci-
ty which is greater than the weight of the pump with
attachments and cable.
The power lines of the pump must be laid in such a
way, that a safe operation and easy assembly/disas-
sembly is ensured.
The power lines must be fixed properly in the operat-
ing room to prevent the cable from hanging loosely.
Depending on the cable length and weight, a cable
holder must be attached every 2-3 m.
The
foundation/structure
must
strength for secure and functionally correct fastening
of the pump. The operator is responsible for this.
A dry run is strictly prohibited. We recommend a level
control for that.
Use baffles for the inlet. This prevents air entry into
the pumping medium, which can lead to unfavorable
operating conditions and result in increased wear.
