Note:
If the motor does not start up after several attempts, see the 'Trouble-
shooting' section.
Note:
Always pull the start pull cord out straight. If it is pulled out at an an-
gle, friction will occur on the lug. This friction causes the cord to wear
through and wear out faster. Always hold the starter handle when the
cord retracts.
Never let the cord snap back from its extended state.
Note:
Do not start the engine in tall grass.
Do not start the engine if the device is hooked into the carrying strap
(35).
m Attention
In an emergency, the safety tab (b) on the carrying strap (35) can be
pulled. The machine then immediately detaches from the carrying strap
(35) and falls to the floor
m Attention!
Use this work technique with particular care. The greater the distance
between the cutting tool and the ground, the greater the danger that the
material to be cut and foreign objects will be thrown to the side.
11.1.2 Shutting the engine off
1.
Press the on/off switch (3) to the off position "0".
2.
Wait until the engine has come to a standstill before setting the
device down.
12. Working instructions
ATTENTION:
Only hold the tool by the insulated gripping surfaces, because the cutting
blade can come into contact with concealed power lines. If the cutting
blade comes into contact with an energised line, device parts can be-
come energised and cause an electric shock.
12.1 Working with the brush cutter / grass trimmer (12)
When working with the brush cutter / grass trimmer (12), the brush cutter
/ grass trimmer shield (14) for the blade and thread operation must be
mounted in order to prevent objects being ejected.
The brush cutter / grass trimmer shield cutting blade (14a) in the brush
cutter / grass trimmer shield (14) automatically cuts the thread to the
optimum length. (Fig. 7)
12.1.1 Mowing with the brush cutter (12)
• With the device switched off, first familiarise yourself with the opera-
tion and guidance if you are working with a brush cutter (12) for the
first time.
• The brush cutter (12) is designed so that it is operated solely from the
right-hand side of the operator.
• Always hold the brush cutter (12) tightly with both hands on the rear
handle (5) and front handle (10).
• Hold the rear handle (5) with your right hand and the front handle
(10) with your left hand.
• Always make sure that the cutting tool continues to rotate briefly after
the throttle has been released.
• Always ensure that the engine is idling properly so that the cutting tool
no longer rotates when the throttle (9) is not pressed.
16
GB/IE/NI
• Always work with high speed so you have the best cutting results.
• Move the device with a uniform curved movement from left to right and
back again. Then cut the next section. (Fig. 16)
• Attention: Always move the device back into the starting position be-
fore cutting the next path.
• If you hit a stone or tree while working, switch off the engine and
remove the spark plug connector (6). Check the brush cutter (12) for
damage.
• Attention: Always be particularly careful when working in difficult ter-
rain and on slopes. Cut long grass in stages to ensure that the device
is not overloaded. First cut the tips, then work your way up in stages.
• Always wear protective goggles and hearing protection, and a hard
hat when doing thinning work.
• While using metal cutting tools, there is generally a risk of kickback,
when the tool hits a solid obstacle (stones, trees, branches, etc.). The
device is thrown back against the direction of rotation.
• With wild growth and undergrowth, "immerse" the trimmer (12) from
above. This chops the material to be cut.
• Attention! The cutting blade (15) is still running! Do not stop the cutting
blade (15) with your hand.
• Keep the cutting blade (15) / cutting unit of the brush cutter (12) away
from feet.
ATTENTION:
Use this work technique with particular care. The greater the distance
between the cutting tool and the ground, the greater the danger that the
material to be cut and foreign objects will be thrown to the side.
12.1.2 Mowing with the grass trimmer
• Use the thread coil (16) to get a clean cut even on uneven edges,
fence posts, and trees.
• Carefully advance the trimming line to an obstacle, and use the tip of
the line to cut around the obstacle. When the trimming line comes into
contact with stones, trees, and walls, the line wears out or breaks off
ahead of time.
• Never replace the plastic thread with a metal wire - danger of injury!
12.1.2.1 Automatic trimming thread (Fig. 17)
• The grass trimmer is supplied with a filled thread coil (16).
• This line will wear out during work.
• So that new thread is fed in, press the trigger (16a) on the thread coil
(16) firmly on the floor with the motor running.
• The line is automatically fed due to centrifugal force. The line is cut to
the correct length by the cutting blade on the shield (14a).
12.2 Working with the hedge trimmer (17)
• The hedge trimmer is suitable for cutting hedges, bushes and shrubs.
• Hold the hedge trimmer at a safe distance away from your body with
two hands.
• The maximal diameter to cut depends on the wood's type, age, mois-
ture and hardness.
• Therefore cut very thick branches using branch shears to your desired
length before trimming the hedge.
• Thanks to the its double-sided cutting unit, the hedge trimmer can be
moved forward and backward or from one side to the other swinging
it back and forth.
• Cut the sides of the hedges first and then the top edge.
• Cut hedges from bottom to the top.
• Cut the hedges in trapezium shape. This prevents the lower hedge
area from becoming bare due to insufficient light.
