5.4. Preparatory work

The system was constructed and installed according to
the state of the art. When used correctly, it will work reli-
ably and for a long time.
Please check the following points:
Cable routing - no loops, slightly taut
All valves should be open
Check accessories and piping for firm and correct fit
Review of existing level control or dry run protection

5.5. Electrical system

The respective local and VDE regulations must be com-
plied with when choosing and installing the electrical
leads as well as connecting the motor. The motor must
be protected with a circuit breaker. The motor must be
connected according to the wiring diagram. Note the di-
rection of rotation! In the event of wrong direction of ro-
tation the machine does not perform as indicated and it
can become damaged under unfavourable circumstances
Electric shock hazard!
Faulty dealing with current may jeopardize your life!
All pumps with free cable ends must be connected by
a qualified electrician.
A professional inspection prior to commissioning
must ensure that the required electrical protective
measures are available. The grounding, earthing,
isolating transformer, and fault current or voltage
fault protection switch must meet the requirements
of the responsible power plant.
The voltage specified in the Technical Data must cor-
respond to the available mains voltage.
Make sure that the electrical connections are in a
flood-safe area and are protected from moisture. The
power cord and plug must be checked for damage
before use.
The end of the connecting cable must not be submer-
ged in water, as this may allow water to infiltrate into
the motor connection room.
The electrical connection must be carried out in accordance
with the local regulations of the utility company or VDE.
The supply voltage and frequency are indicated on the type
plates on the pump and the switching device. The voltage
tolerance must be within +6% to - 10% of the mains volt-
age. It must be ensured that the data listed on the type
plates is in agreement with the existing power supply. The
lifting units require no additional motor protection.
The pump motors have a built-in thermal switches in the
motor windings, which shut off the pump via the connect-
ed switchgear in case the motor overheats or is overload-
ed. No additional motor protection is required.

5.6. Rotational direction

The direction of rotation must be checked in three phase
motors before commissioning. When using a HOMA swit-
chgear with LED for direction of rotation, this flashes in
the event of wrong direction of rotation.
In the event of wrong direction of rotation two phases of
the power supply must be interchanged. As standard, the
pumps are delivered with CEE power plugs.
The interchange of phases is carried out by 180° rotation
of the round holding plate on the poles of the plug with a
screw driver.
The indicated conveying data and performance data
can only be achieved if a clockwise rotation field is
present. The machinery is not designed for operation
in an anticlockwise rotation field.

5.7. Switching on / Operation

The operating instructions for the electronic control unit
are included with the control unit itself.
To do this, set the operating switch of the pump control
unit to the "Auto" position.
The pumps start working as soon as the water level in
the collection tank reaches the required level. When the
switch-off level is reached, the pump switches off auto-
matically.
Once the switch-on level in the tank has been reached,
the pump continues to operate until the liquid in the tank
has dropped to the switch-off level. If the liquid level in
the tank reaches the alarm level, an alarm message is trig-
gered which remains activated until the liquid level falls
below the level again.

6. Maintenance

6.1. General

The entire system must be checked and serviced at regu-
lar intervals.
The following points should be noted:
The operating and maintenance manual must be
available to the maintenance personnel and its inst-
ructions followed. Only the repair and maintenance
measures listed here may be performed.
All maintenance, inspection and cleaning work on the
machine and the system may only be carried out by
trained specialists exercising extreme care in a safe
workplace. Proper protective clothing is to be worn.
The machine must be disconnected from the electri-
city supply before any work is carried out. There must
be no way that it can be inadvertently switched on.
Additionally, the appropriate protective measures as
defined by the BGV/GNV should be enforced when
working in basins and/or containers.
Ensure that the necessary tools and materials are
available. Order and cleanliness guarantee safe and
trouble-free work on the machine. Remove used clea-
ning materials and tools from the machine after com-
pleting the work. Keep all materials and tools in their
designated places.
