Factory calibration
Hach recommends the ScrubberMonitor is inspected and calibrated by Hach's service department or
a certified partner at 2-year intervals. During the 24-month service, components will be inspected and
replaced as necessary. In addition, calibration is done to comply with the latest requirement(s) of
regional regulatory agencies. A certificate of calibration is given when all service is completed. If
service is not completed, an adverse effect on the accuracy or function of the instrument can occur.
Note: It is important to understand the latest requirements for calibration and verification from local regulatory
agencies.
6.2 Remove the water from the instrument
Remove the water from the instrument before maintenance tasks or calibrations are started as
follows:
1. Stop the flow of sample water to the instrument.
2. Open the drain valves (Q3-V2 and Q3-V1). Refer to
3. Close the bypass valve (Q2-V2).
4. Open the vent valve (Q6-V1).
5. When instrument is sufficiently empty, close the vent valve (Q6-V1) and drain valves (Q3-V2 and
Q3-V1).
6.3 Start the flow of sample water
When maintenance tasks and calibrations are complete, do the steps that follow:
1. Start the flow of sample water to the instrument.
2. When there is no longer air in the instrument tubing, remove the air from the sample flow cell as
follows:
a. Put a container under the vent. Refer to
b. Open the vent valve (Q6-V1).
c. When water comes out of the vent, close the vent valve (Q6-V1).
3. Examine the instrument for leaks. Tighten the fittings to stop leaks as necessary.
4. If necessary, adjust the external shutoff valve, then the bypass valve (Q2-V2), until the sample
flow meter shows approximately 120 L/h..
6.4 Clean the sample flow meter
Clean the sample flow meter when unwanted material collects in the tube. Unwanted material can
interfere with the operation of the sample flow meter.
