Before start-up, the filling levels (oil, cooling fluid etc.)
of the individual products should be checked and top-
ped up if required. Please refer to the machine data
sheet for specifications on filling. Damaged coatings
should be repaired immediately. Only a coating that is
completely intact fulfills the criteria for intended usa-
ge!
If these rules are observed, your product can be stored
for a longer period. Please remember that elastomer parts
and coatings become brittle naturally. If the product is
to be stored for longer than 6 months, we recommend
checking these parts and replacing them as necessary.
Please consult the manufacturer.

4.4. Returning to the supplier

Products which are delivered to the plant must be clean
and correctly packaged. In this context, clean means
that impurities have been removed and decontaminat-
ed if it has been used with materials which are hazard-
ous to health. The packaging must protect the product
against damage. Please contact the manufacturer before
returning!

5. Installation and Start-Up

5.1. General

To avoid damage to the pump during installation and oper-
ation, the following points must be observed:
The installation work must be performed by qualified
personnel in compliance with safety regulations.
Before installation, the pump should be inspected for
damage.
For level control, pay attention to the minimum water
coverage.
Air pockets in the pump housing and piping are to
be avoided (through appropriate vent devices or a
slightly tilling the pump).
Protect the pump from freezing.
The operating room must be designed for the
particular machine. This also means that a lifting de-
vice for assembly/disassembly can be installed, which
can reach the installation area of the pump safely.
The power lines of the pump must be positioned in
such a way that a safe operation and easy assembly/
disassembly is provided.
The power lines in the operating room must be in-
stalled properly in order to prevent loose hanging
cables. Depending on the cable length and weight, a
cable bracket must be installed every 2-3m.

5.2. Installation

Danger due to falling!
When installing the pump and accessories, you must
be working directly on the edge of the pool! Careless-
ness or wrong shoes can cause falls. Risk of death!
Take all precautions to prevent this.
The pressure line or the hose must be attached on the
pressure socket of the pump and attach the pressure line.
When using a tube or pipe fitting with thread, the hose
nozzle can be cut on the hose connection of the pump.
In order to ensure optimum flow rate, the pressure line
should have a diameter of at least ¾ „. To prevent a return
flow of water when the pump is turned off, a flap trap can
also be mounted in the discharge line. The discharge line
must be fitted free of tension.
When using a hose, make sure that it is not kinked. When
using accessories, such as a quick coupling or similar,
make sure that they it is sealed with Teflon tape, since a
leak reduces the capacity of the pump.
Mount the pump with rope or chain onto the handle, and
lower it into the medium to be pumped. With a muddy
ground, place stones or other similar items under the
pump to prevent subsidence.
Automatic float switch
If the water rises to a certain maximum level (switch on
point), the float that rises to the top, automatically switch-
es the pump on. If by the pumping down, the water level
dropped to a certain minimum level (switch off point), the
float switches the pump off. The switching distance, i.e.
the water level difference between the switch on and off
point can be individually set. To ensure proper functioning,
follow the instructions below:
The mounting points and the length of the freely
moveable ends of the float cable must be set to the de-
sired level. It should be noted that the switch of the pump
is located below the supply line, in order to prevent back
pressure of the medium to be pumped.
The switch-off point must be above the top edge of the
pump housing, so that no air pockets can form in the
pump. At times it is necessary to bleed the pump.
Never throw the float with cable into the medium, since
the correct switching is only possible with a rotary move-
ment of the float around the mounting point of the cable.
Possible consequences of non-compliance are flooding
(pump does not turn on), or destruction of the pump by
running dry (pump does not stop).
When using separate floats for pump start, pump stop
and alarm, the switching levels are to be chosen as above.
The alarm float should switch at about 10 cm above the
pump switch-on point, but always below the inlet.
Important: After each change of the float mounting, it is
necessary to check the proper function of the float switch
by performing a trial run.
Automatic float switch for AC version (W)
If the default setting of the float cable are changed, the
cable between the float (Item 838.45) and the anti-kink
