5.5 Communication
5.5.1
Communication through RS232
The firmware can be updated via RS232. The maximum length of the RS232 cable should be 10 m. The inverter can
only communicate with one PC through RS232 at the same time.
The scheme below shows communication through RS232:
Notes:
If your computer does not have the DB9 communication interface, you can use
RS232-USB cable as an alternative solution.
5.5.2
Communication through RS485
RS485 is used for multipoint communication. A PMU (Power Management Unit) can communicate with and monitor
up to 50 inverter units at the same time. The maximum length of the cable should not exceed 1 000 m. All Wolong
inverters that communicate through one cable, should use the provided RS485 interface. The scheme below shows
communication through RS485:
