9.2.3 Flue gas discharge connection
In an existing situation, the flue gas discharge can be connected in 3 ways: without discharge material, via a fixed
connection, or via a flexible connection.
Not all connection methods are permitted in all countries! Install the appliance strictly in accordance with the
!CAUTION
guidelines that are applicable for your specific country.
In case of the method without discharge material, you must create an air-tight connection between the top side
of the fire and the chimney using ceramic wool (see section 5.7.2).
When a fixed connection is created, the conical ring specially developed for this or the draining connection piece
flex/fix should be used. It is available via your supplier.
Take the following steps (see appendix 2, fig. 10):
Ø
Attach the ring/connection piece to the top side of the appliance using 3 bolts.
Ø
Place the appliance.
Ø
Slide the pipe over the conical ring or in the draining connection piece flex/fix.
Finally, there is a draining connection piece flex/fix available to create a flexible connection.
Proceed as follows (see appendix 2, fig. 10):
Ø
Pull the flexible pipe through the chimney.
Ø
Attach the draining connection piece flex/fix to the flexible pipe using 3 self-tapping screws.
Ø
Push the flexible pipe, including connection piece, back in the chimney.
Ø
Slide the fire in its place.
Ø
Remove the flame baffle plate if it is already in the correct location in the top of the appliance (see section 9.3.2).
Ø
Insert a hand through the hole of the flue gas discharge and grab the handle of the connection piece.
Ø
Pull the flexible pipe plus connection piece downwards.
Ø
Attach the flexible connection piece to the appliance with 3 bolts.
The handle in the flexible connection piece can be broken out after installation. This is not necessary, but can be
!Caution
desirable when sweeping the chimney.
The draining connection piece flex/fix can be used for creating both a flexible and fixed connection.
!Tip
In case of a fixed connection, the piping material will be fully lowered in the connection piece. In case of a flexible
!Caution
connection, the piping material will only be lowered half-way in the connection piece (see appendix 2, fig. 10-1a &
10-1b).
9.2.4 Air slide
When installing and maintaining the appliance, check the operation of the air slide (see appendix 2, fig. 8).
It is possible that steel grit ended up in the air slide during transportation. If the air slide does not run smoothly, it
has to be cleaned. For this, the air slide should be disassembled. The air slide is suspended from a bolt and spring,
which are located under the cover plate.
When disassembling the air slide, proceed as follows (see appendix 2, fig. 8):
Ø
Remove the vermiculite plates and felt from the bottom (see section 9.3.1).
Ø
Screw the 5 socket screws of the cover plate out of the bottom.
Ø
Remove the cover plate.
Ø
In case of an outdoor air connection, screw the 2 screws out of the front strip.
The front strip should only be removed when an outdoor air connection has been mounted.
!Caution
Ø
Unscrew the socket screw with spring.
Ø
Take out the air slide by moving it towards you.
Ø
Check the air slide and clean it if necessary.
When placing back the air slide, the actions described for disassembling it must be observed in reverse order.
