5. Installation and commissioning
5.1. General
The following points must be noted to prevent damages
in the pump during installation and commissioning:
•
The installation work must be carried out by qualified
personnel in compliance with the safety regulations.
•
The pump must be checked for possible damages
prior to installation.
•
The minimum submersion in water must be
considered for level control.
•
Air pockets in the pump casing and in pipes must be
avoided (by means of appropriate venting facilities or
slight tilting of the pump).
•
Protect the pump from frost.
•
The mechanical room must be designed for the
respective machinery. This includes also that a lifting
device for assembly/disassembly can be installed,
with which the installation site of the pump can be
reached without danger.
•
The power lines of the pump must run in a way that
hazard-free operation and easy assembly/disassem-
bly is possible.
•
The power line must be fixed professionally in the
mechanical room so that loose hanging of the leads
is prevented. Depending on the length and weight of
the leads a cable holder must be fitted every two to
three meters.
5.2. Fitting
When mounting the pump and its accessories work
is carried out directly at the edge of the basin!
Carelessness or wrong footwear can lead to falls.
There is danger to life! Take all safety measures to
prevent this.
Fix the pressure pipe or the hose on the pressure branch
of the pump and lay the pressure pipe. When using a
hose connection or pipe connection with thread the hose
connector at the branch of the pump can be cut off. The
pressure pipe should have a minimum diameter of 3/4"
to ensure optimal conveyor performance. Additionally a
swing check valve can be mounted in the pressure pipe
to prevent backward running of the water when the pump
is switched off. The pressure pipe must be mounted
without tension.
When using the hose it must be ensured that this is laid
our without bends. When using accessories, such as a
quick coupling, or similar, it has to be ensured that these
are sealed with teflon tape, since leakage reduces the
conveyor performance of the pump.
Fix the pump on the handhold with a rope and chain and
lower down into the medium.
In the event of muddy ground lay stones under the pump
to prevent sinking.
Installation on the ground
When connecting the pressure pipe, couplings or parts
of pipe that are screwed onto the double socket must
not block the opening of the swing check valve, since
the pump can otherwise not achieve the full conveyor
performance.

Gate valves and swing check valves must the fitted on
the pressure pipe according to the local regulations, if
appropriate.
The
pressure
ascending pipe or hose must be laid out without tension, when
using a hose it must be ensured that it has dimensions in
accordance with the diameter of the pressure connection
and that it is laid our without bends.
Fix the pump on the handhold with a rope and chain and
lower down into the medium. In the event of muddy
ground lay stones under the pump to prevent sinking.
Alarm
Automatic float switch
If the water level increases to a determined maximum
level (switching point), the floating float switches the
pump automatically on. If the water level is sunk to a
determined minimum level (tripping point) due to
pumping down, the float switches the pump off.
The reacting distance, e.g. the water level difference be-
tween switching point and tripping point can be deter-
mined individually.
Please note the following information for perfect
function:
The mountings as well as the length of the freely move-
able end of the float cable must be adjusted to the de-
sired switch level. It has to be ensured here that the
switch level of the pump is below the entrance pipe so
that an obstruction of the pumping medium can be avoid-
ed. The tripping point must be above the upper edge of
the pump casing so that no air pockets can develop in
the pump, which requires under circumstances de-aerat-
ing of the pump. Under no circumstances the float with
the cable must be thrown into the medium, since correct
switch is only possible with a rotational movement of the
float around the mounting point of the cable. Possible
consequences in the event of non-compliance are
