5. Installation and Commissioning
5.1. General
The following points must be noted in order to prevent
damages to the pump during installation and operation:
•
The installation work must be carried out by qualified
personnel in compliance with the safety regulations.
•
The pump must be checked for possible damages pri-
or to installation.
•
The minimum submersion in water must be consid-
ered for level control.
•
Air pockets in the pump casing and in pipes must be
absolutely avoided (by means of appropriate venting
facilities or slight tilting of the pump).
•
Protect the pump from frost.
•
The mechanical room must be designed for the re-
spective machinery. This includes also that a lifting
device for assembly/disassembly can be installed,
with which the installation site of the pump can be
reached without danger.
•
The power lines of the pump must run in such a way
that hazard-free operation and easy assembly/disas-
sembly is possible.
•
A dry run is strictly prohibited. We recommend level
control for this.
•
Use impact plates for the feed. In this way, you can
prevent air introduction into the pumped medium
which leads to unfavorable operating conditions and
increased wear and tear.

5.2. Fitting
Danger of falls! When mounting the pump and its ac-
cessories, work is carried out directly at the edge of
the basin! Carelessness or wrong footwear can lead
to falls. There is danger to life! Take all safety mea-
sures to prevent this.
Fix the pressure pipe or the hose on the pressure branch
of the pump and lay the pressure pipe. When using a
threaded hose connection or pipe connection, the hose
connector at the branch of the pump can be cut off. The
pressure pipe should have a minimum diameter of ¾"
to ensure optimal conveyor performance. Additionally a
swing check valve can be mounted in the pressure pipe to
prevent backward running of the water when the pump is
switched off. The pressure pipe must be mounted without
tension.
When using a hose, it must be ensured that this is laid out
without bends. When using accessories, e.g. a quick cou-
pling or similar, it has to be ensured that these are sealed
with Teflon tape, since leakage reduces the conveyor per-
formance of the pump.
Fix the pump on the handhold with a rope or chain and
lower down into the medium. In the event of muddy
ground, lay stones (or sim.) under the pump to prevent
sinking.
