De orgel zendt de hierboven beschreven boodschappen niet uit. Zij zijn alleen voor de volledigheid beschreven.
Tot de reeks 'Real Time' boodschappen behoort ook de 'Active Sensing' (actief waarnemen) code, die wordt
verstuurd om de dialoog tussen twee MIDI instrumenten gaande te houden.
Wanneer het ontvangende instrument na een tijdsinterval van ongeveer 0,3 seconde geen enkele MIDI
boodschap of de 'Active Sensing" code binnen krijgt, beschouwt deze de MIDI verbinding als gedeactiveerd
(verbroken) en zal alle nog klinkende tonen uitschakelen. Bedenk dat het verzenden en ontvangen van deze
boodschap optioneel is. Niet alle instrumenten hebben de mogelijkheid om dit toe te passen.
