u Push and pivot the appliance cover upwards and remove it.

Descaling the appliance
NOTICE: Never treat the cylinder surface with descaling agents
as these can damage the plastic.
u Open the appliance.
u Remove the flanged immersion heater.
u Carefully tap the heating element to remove coarse limes-
cale deposits.
u Immerse the heating element up to the flange plate in de-
scaling agent.
u Carry out descaling in accordance with the instructions
provided by the descaling agent manufacturer.
u After descaling, flush the heating element with clear water.
Reassemble the appliance.

Cleaning/replacing the strainer

u Detach the "cold water inlet" connection.
u Using pliers, remove the strainer from the "cold water inlet"
connection.
u Descale or replace the strainer.

Checking the earth conductor (DGUV V3)
u Pull off the temperature selector.
u Check the earth conductor (in Germany DGUV V3 for ex-
ample) across a limiting ring fixing screw and the earth
conductor contact of the connecting cable.
