14. Change the function level using the arrow keys ("Demineralise" function), confirm with
OK. After selecting the target conductivity, e.g. 60 µS/cm (recommended), start the dem-
ineralising process with OK. The pump starts and the motorised valve opens, provided the
conductivity of the circulating water (conductivity 1) is greater than the selected target con-
ductivity. The values shown on the display are continuously updated.

15. If a residual capacity of 0 °TDS is displayed, in the "Desalination" mode the unit switches
off automatically, signalling this both acoustically and changes the display illumination from
blue to red The display shows "Replace permasoft".
To do this, close the "Heating feed shut-off valve (9)" and relieve the pressure via the "Sam-
pling tap PT-PS 21000IL (8)" (connection of a length of hose recommended). Leave the tap
open, connect the new cartridge and vent via the open tap by pressing the right arrow button
for > 2 seconds. Now close the tap and open the valve to the heating feed on the permaLine.
Then confirm "Select cartridge" with OK.

16. The system water is considered as treated when the target conductivity is reached and
this is also indicated on the display. After 180 minutes, the built-in pump re-starts and the mo-
torised valve opens. The permaLine now re-checks the previously achieved conductivity* and
treatment continues if necessary until the preset target conductivity is regained. This process
is repeated after 180 minutes until the PT-PS 21000IL is exhausted or a conductivity of 25 μS/
cm is achieved. In the latter case, the device will go into standby.
*With larger heating systems, it is not always guaranteed that all heating circuits are open and thus
included in the treatment process. If further heating circuits are added with a delay (e.g. overnight), this
mode ensures that the system water of these heating circuits is also treated.

At an achieved target conductivity of 90 μS/cm, the resulting residual hardness is already
less than 3 °d. If 30 μS/cm are preselected, 0.5 – 1 °d residual hardness remains in the water
depending on the water composition. If residual hardness of 0.3 °d is mandatory according to
VDI 2035 or the component manufacturer, a softening cartridge is also required, see item 8,
or desalination must continue up to a conductivity of 30 μS/cm.**
**according to VDI 2035 Annex I3, residual hardness < 1 °d does not lead to any significant accumulation
of deposits in low-salt operation.
