12. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

In order to keep the machine in technically serviceable and ready for operation, perform daily
maintenance. (DM)
Daily maintenance includes:
• exterior check;
• planer knives fastening check;
• machine cleaning.
Exterior check includes inspection of power cord and integrity of protective guards.
Planer knives fastening is checked by tightening the screws 44 with hexagon wrench (fig. 4).
Cleaning includes removing dust and woodchips from machine surfaces and parts with brush
or vacuum cleaner.
Machine repair is performed only at specialized service centers.

12.1 Planer knives sharpening and replacement

It's necessary to periodically sharpen or replace the planer knives when they get blunt.
Knife cutting edge should be sharp and free from deformations, indentations, cleavage and
cracks.
When mounting new knives, replacing the fasteners and after sharpening, the difference in
weight between the set of knives and the set of fasteners shall not exceed 1 gram. Total weight
alignment is performed by removal of metal layers from knife ends.
Knives adjustment is provided by sequential mounting of each knife.
First it's necessary to loosen a knife by loosening the screws 44.
Then adjust the knives 45 by tightening/loosening the screws 46.
Fix the knife by screwing the screws 44. After final screws tightening, check the correctness of
knife mounting and repeat it if necessary.
The correctly mounted knives should slightly contact the lower fence edge with their cutting
edges, not raisin it, when turning the cutter block (fig. 5).
To keep screws and aluminum cutter block thread safe, perform screws hammering (hitting the
screw head with a hammer through hexagon bit), fig. 6. This is necessary for releasing tension
in threaded parts of screws. In case of hexagon recess stripping, beat T-20 TORX bit in the
screw head and unscrew it. Then replace the screw by a new one.

12.2 Circular saw blade

It's recommended to use carbide saw blades for this machine type.
Note that the type of saw blade depends on the material being processed.
When mounting the saw blade watch the rotation direction. The direction of saw teeth should
correspond to the direction of the arrow marked on the casing that protects the circular saw
blade above the table level.
