A FEW COMMENTS
•
You always get spoken feedback when you press any key. However, when reading out no help messages
are spoken. The feedback is also available in braille. The feedback from the user interface start with a 8 dot
full braille cel.
•
You can also connect headphones. The input for this is on the right-hand side of the operating panel (plug
12).
•
Depending on the grey values, text in drawings or photos will not be read.
•
You must flatten out crinkled pages. If necessary place a magazine or book on the page to press it flat.
•
When using thick books the cover can be left open. It is only necessary to close the cover if there is too much
incident light or the page is crinkled.
•
You can scan a new page while the previous one is still being read out.
•
If you switch off the reader, the current memory is saved. This is immediately available when you switch the
reader on again, and this by pressing the round key in the middle (button 7) of the navigation keys. If you
scan a new page after starting, then the memory is deleted.
•
If a number of languages are installed, you can change the language by pressing on one of the volume keys
(button 2 or 3) for a while.
•
Text in columns is read properly by the reader, except if the title of the article is in the middle of the text, for
example, instead of the top. If when reading a sighted person has to look for the continuation of the text, a
reading machine will often make mistakes.
•
If you connect an USB stick or MP3 player to the reader, the reader will ask to save it. If you confirm, a text,
MP3 file (spoken text) and a photo is saved of all the scanned texts. You can use this feature to listen to the
text elsewhere or to save a text or photo on a PC. If you discard saving and your USB stick contains PDF
files, the reader will ask if you want to read PDF files.
•
You can erase the memory on the reader by pressing the selection buttons for the navigation mode together
long, i.e. the top and bottom arrow. (button 8 and 9)
•
By connection a braille display to the USB port, the read-out text is also available in braille. The reader uses
the braille table of the language of the user interface. Messages from the user interface are also displayed
with a full 8 dot cell in the beginning.
AUTOMATIC LANGUAGE RECOGNITION
You can activate the option "automatic language recognition" by pressing and holding one of the volume buttons
(button 2 or 3) long until the EasyReader announces "automatic".
Only languages selected in the languages menu will be recognized.
When this function is set, each text bloc will be read in the according language. The default voice is predefined. If
you want the text to be read in another voice, only select 1 voice per language (your preferred voice) in the
language menu.
ADDING VOICES OR LANGUAGES AND ADJUSTING THE
BRIGHTNESS
Your reader contains many languages, and also different voices for most languages. You can change them
by pressing on both volume buttons at the same time. Afterwards in this menu you can also adjust the
brightness of the operating buttons. This is done as follows:
Press on both volume buttons for around 10 seconds. You then enter the menu. This menu consists of four
steps.
