Chapter 2: First-time use
You need to go through the following steps to use the EasyReader for the first time:
INSTALLATION OF THE BATTERY
Follow the steps to install the battery:
1. Unscrew the 2 hand screws at the back of the device and put of the cover.
2. Put the battery in the sleeve.
3. Screw the 2 hand screws with the cover.
4. Connect the pin of the adapter at the back of the EasyReader. Then connect the reading device to the
mains supply.
FIRST START UP
After the device has been installed, you test whether it works. You switch on the EasyReader. (see next
chapter – Switching on/off)
When starting for the first time you will see the language menu. Please read "Adding voices or languages
and adjusting the brightness" in this manual for further instructions.
Chapter 3: General operation
After having successfully connected and tested the EasyReader, we will now go into the controls and the
operation of the EasyReader.
SWITCHING ON/OFF
Switch on the reader by briefly pressing the red on/off button. This red round button is at the far left (button
1). Soon after, you will hear a beep that confirms it is switched on. As soon as the reader reports that it is
ready for use, you can start.
In order to switch off the reader press the red on/off button again (button 1). The reader then reports the
battery status. Pressing a second time switches the reader off.
VOLUME AND READING SPEED
Just to the right below the red on/off button there are keys for the volume and reading speed. They are in a
group of four buttons. In order to adjust the volume, press briefly on one of the blue arrow keys to the left.
The top key increases the volume (button 2) and the bottom (button 3) key reduces the volume. In order
to change the reading speed, press briefly on one of the other two blue arrow keys. These keys are to the
right of the volume keys. You increase the speed with the top key (button 4) and reduce the reading speed
with the bottom key (button 5).
PITCH CONTROL
Press long on the top reading speed button (button 4) to increase pitch.
Press long on the bottom reading speed button (button 5) to decrease pitch.
