Beschouwingen over lassen en de effecten van lage frequentie
elektrische en magnetische velden
Lasstroom die door laskabels stroomt veroorzaakt elektromagnetische
velden. Deze velden zijn altijd reden tot bezorgdheid geweest. Echter,
na bestudering van meer dan 500 onderzoeken, uitgevoerd tijdens een
periode van 17 jaar, is een speciaal comité van deskundigen van de
National Research Council tot de volgende conclusie gekomen: "Naar
het oordeel van het comité is niet aangetoond dat blootstelling aan
hoogfrequente elektrische en magnetische velden gevaar oplevert voor
de gezondheid van de mens." Er wordt echter nog verder onderzoek op
dit gebied verricht en ook blijft men bewijzen bestuderen. Totdat er uit
het onderzoek definitieve conclusies kunnen worden getrokken, raden
we aan de blootstelling aan elektromagnetische velden tijdens het
lassen en snijden tot een minimum te beperken.

1. Houd kabels dicht bij elkaar door ze in elkaar te twisten of vast te
plakken of gebruik kabelbescherming.
2. Leg de kabels aan een kant uit de buurt van de lasser.
3. Rol of hang de kabels niet rond of op uw lichaam.
4. Houd de lasstroombron en de kabels zo ver mogelijk uit de buurt
van de lasser.
5. Verbind de massaklem met het werkstuk zo dicht mogelijk bij de
las.
Over geïmplanteerde medische apparatuur:
Mensen die een geïmplanteerd medisch apparaat dragen, moeten hun
arts en de fabrikant van het apparaat raadplegen voordat ze in de buurt
komen van werkzaamheden met booglassen, puntlassen, gutsen, pla-
smaboogsnijden of inductieverhitting. Bij toestemming van de arts
wordt geadviseerd om bovenstaande procedures te volgen.
