It is normal for some steam or a light odour to form when the toaster is used
for the first time. Ventilate the room well, if necessary.
Once the toaster has switched off, repeat this process four times.
The appliance is now ready for use.
9. Using the toaster
To toast bread, proceed as follows:
Insert the crumb tray (9) correctly.
Connect the toaster to a domestic power socket.
Place a slice of bread into the bread slot (1).
Set the browning control (5) to your preferred setting:
− 1 = lowest browning setting
− 3 = average browning setting
− 6 = highest browning setting
Intermediate settings can also be set.
When using the toaster for the first time or if you are unsure which browning setting is right
for you, choose a lower setting. The level of browning may vary depending on the type of
bread. Settings 1–3 are suitable for all bread slices, settings 3–6 are primarily for dark
types of bread.
Push down the operating button (2) until it audibly clicks into place.
The heating elements will switch on automatically and the LED on the cancel button
(6) will light up. As soon as the bread has reached the set level of browning, it will pop up
from the bread slot (1). The heating elements switch off.
If you want to end the toasting process early, press the cancel button

9.1. Defrosting frozen slices of bread
If you would like to defrost and toast a frozen slice of bread:
Put the slice of bread into the bread slot (1), select the level of browning and then press
down the operating button (2).
Press the defrost button

In comparison to normal toasting, the defrosting process takes a little longer to achieve the
same level of browning.
