When working laterally to the anchor point up to max. 1.5 m,
care must be taken to minimise the risk of a pendulum fall. If this
is not possible, other suitable anchorage devices, e.g. EN 795
type C (combination must be tested) or D, must be used.
For the calculation of the required clear height (H
edge, the information in Fig. 3 must be observed.
Note: When used with an EN 795 type C anchor device, the
combination must have been officially tested and the deflection
of this system must be taken into account in the calculation of the
required clear height H
the corresponding instructions must be observed.
Note: In the event of a fall over an edge, there is a risk of
injury to the user through contact with the building/structure.
Additional rescue measures must be defined and trained for this
application.
Before each use, ensure that the required ground clearance H
sufficient in each case to ensure the effectiveness of the system and to
avoid impact with the ground or other obstacles (Fig. 3):
Braking distance of the HSG Δl (max. 2.0 m)
+ height of the fall arrest eyelet to the standing surface x (in m)
+ safety distance (1m)
+ if necessary, deflection of the other system components (observe
the corresponding instructions for use of the manufacturer)

5.) Use
A visual and functional check must be carried out before use. The
HSG, including the full length of the retractable lanyard, shall be
inspected for damage due to deformation, corrosion, fall loading or
wear and the fall indicator (on the lanyard karabiner) shall be
checked (5.4). If the fall indicator has been triggered, the HSG must
be withdrawn from use immediately.
The retractable lanyard must be easy to remove and retract.
Caution: Never let go of the lanyard and allow it to retract uncon-
trolled. (5.1)
To check the locking function (5.2), pull quickly and firmly on the line
to ensure that the HSG locks. When doing so, listen for unusual
noises.
The HSG shall be withdrawn from use and an inspection by a
competent person shall be carried out if
the fall indicator has been triggered (5.4),
other faults are detected or
there is the slightest doubt about the function or safe condition of
the unit.
