FIRST USE
Read the instruction manual carefully prior to operating the machine.
Prior to starting the machine, check if:
• the steam/hot water valve is closed.
• the switch and buttons are not activated.
• the power cord is disconnected.
• the drip tray is inserted accurately.
• the machine is placed on a water resistant surface.
Now you can begin to operate your machine:

Remove the lid of the water tank.

Fill the water tank with fresh water, preferably deficient in lime. Replace the lid of the water tank.

Insert the power plug into the wall socket and press the power-switch. The machine is now on.
Important!
For the initial set-up the boiler has to be filled.

Place a small container (e. g. a frothing pitcher) under the steam/hot water valve. Open the steam valve
and press the pump/hot water switch (Image 1 – no.8). There will be a pump sound. Now the boiler is
filling with water. When using the machine for the first time, it can take a few seconds before the water
comes out of the steam valve. Before preparing the first coffee, please rinse the machine by extracting about
2-3 water tank fillings.
For daily use, let approx. 300 ml of water run out, this will rinse the boiler and fill it with fresh water.
Switch off the pump/hot water switch and close the steam/hot water valve.

The machine heats up and the orange control lamp for heating control lights up.

As soon as the optimum temperature is reached, the heating shuts off automatically and the control
lamp for heating control switches off. The indicator of the pump pressure gauge may move slightly
during the heat-up phase.

Clamp the empty portafilter into the brew group in order to preheat the filter and the portafilter. You can
accelerate this process by dispensing water from the brew group.

The machine is now ready for use. Place the cups on the cup heating tray in order to preheat them.
Please note that the portafilter, drip tray and water tank are not suitable for the dishwasher.

USE OF THE MACHINE
6.1 Preparation of the machine
The switched off machine is to be placed into operation as follows:

Make sure that there is sufficient water in the water tank.

Make sure that the switches are in the off position and the steam/hot water valve is closed.

Turn the machine on (push the power switch).

The heating period depends on the ambient temperature and is approx. 5-7 minutes. The indicator of the
pump pressure gauge may move slightly during the heat-up phase.

The machine is ready for use. The control lamp for heating switches off.

Insert the portafilter, activate the coffee button and dispense some hot water. This way, the portafilter
will be completely heated.
It is recommended to leave the portafilter in the brew group, keeping it warm for optimal
coffee dispension temperature.
6.2 Manual adjustment of the brewing pressure
You can individually adjust and change the brewing pressure by turning the adjusting screw, choosing a
value between approx. 8.5 and 12 bar.
To adjust the brewing pressure, proceed as follows:

Remove the cup warming tray, take some water out of the brew group by pressing the coffee button.
2
Place the portafilter with the blind filter into the brew group.
3
Push the coffee button and read the pump pressure gauge.
