If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained pow-
er tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.
in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be
performed.
Use of the power tool for operations diff erent from
those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep the grip and grip surfaces dry, clean, and
free of oil and grease.
Slippery grips and grip surfaces do not enable safe
operation and inspection of the electrical tool in unfore-
seeable situations.
2.1.5 Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualifi ed repair
person using only identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.

2.2 Safety instructions for all saws

Sawing process
a) ! HAZARD: Do not reach with your hands into the
sawing area or close to the saw blade.
Keep both hands on the grip. If both hands hold the
saw, then they cannot be injured by the saw blade.
b) Hold the electrical tool on the insulated grip surfa
ces while you are working, since the electrical
tool could contact hidden power conductors or its own
connection line. Contact with a voltage conducting line
will electrify the metal parts of the electrical tool as well
and cause an electric shock.
c) Always use saw blades of the correct size and with the
correct mounting hole (e.g. trapezoidal or round sha
pe). Saw blades that do not match the assembly parts
of the saw will not run true and could cause a loss of
control.
d) Never use damaged or incorrect saw blade washers
or screws. The saw blade washers and screws were
designed especially for your saw, for ideal perfor
mance, and operating safety.

2.3 Additional safety instructions for all saws

Backlash – causes and corresponding safety inst-
ructions
-
A backlash is a sudden reaction as the result of a
hooked, jammed, or incorrectly aligned saw blade,
which causes the uncontrolled saw to lift and move
out of the workpiece and towards the operator.
-
If the saw blade catches or jams in the enclosed saw
gap, it will stick and the motor power will cause the saw
to whip back in the direction of the operator.
-
If the saw blade is twisted or incorrectly aligned in the
saw cut, the tooth of the rear saw blade edge can catch
in the wooden surface, which will move the saw blade
out of the saw gap and cause the saw to jump back in
the direction of the operator. A backlash movement is
the result of incorrect or insuffi cient saw use. This can
be prevented with suitable safety measures as follows.
a) Hold the saw tightly with both hands and move your
arms into a position that enables you to counteract
the backlash forces. In case of a backlash movement,
the circular saw can jump backwards, but the opera-
tor should be able to counteract backlash forces with
suitable safety measures.
b) If the saw blade clamps or you interrupt the work,
switch off the saw and hold it steady in the work
material until the saw blade has come to a stop.
Never try to remove the saw from the workpiece or pull
it backwards while the saw blade edge is moving, since
backlash could result. Determine and correct the cause
of the clamped saw blade.
c) If you want to restart a saw blade that is stuck in the
workpiece, centre the saw blade in the saw gap and
make sure that the saw teeth are not hooked in the
workpiece. If the saw blade is hooked, then it could
move out of the workpiece or cause a backlash when
the saw is started again.
d) Do not use blunted or damaged saw blades. Saw
blades with blunted or incorrectly aligned teeth cause
increased abrasion due to a saw gap that is too tight,
jam the saw blade, and cause backlash movements.
e) Before sawing, lock in the saw depth settings. If you
change the settings during sawing, the saw blade can
jam and cause backlash movements.
f) Be especially careful when sawing into areas that are
not easily visible. The penetrating saw blade may be
