Parts subject to wear
Your bike is a technical product that needs to be
checked regularly.
A large number of parts experience considerable
natural wear depending on their use.
Get your bike checked regularly and get worn
parts replaced by your approved O2Feel reseller.
General instructions for use
Tyres
Tyres experience natural wear. This wear depends
on the use of the bike, and can be affected
significantly by the user.
Do not brake so that the wheels stop completely.
Regularly check your tyre pressure. The maximum
and minimum inflation pressures are usually
indicated on the side of the tyre.
If necessary, pump up your tyres until they are at
the indicated pressure. This will reduce wear.
Avoid exposing the tyres to harmful elements, such
as sunlight, petrol, oil etc.
Rims with rim brakes
The brake lining and rim are subject to natural
wear, due to the combined action of the rim
brake and the rim. The presence of small cracks
or crookedness when inflating indicate advanced
wear. Rims fitted with wear indicators mean that it
is easy to see how worn the rim is.
Check how worn your rims are regularly.
Brake linings
Brake linings for rim brakes and disc brakes
become worn according to the bike's usage. If the
bike is used to cycle on mountainous terrain or for
sporting purposes, the brake linings may need to
be changed more regularly. Regularly check how
worn the brake linings are and, if necessary, have
them replaced by your approved O2Feel reseller.
Brake discs
Brake discs also become worn over time and when
used intensively. Find out from the manufacturer
of your brakes or your approved O2Feel reseller
about acceptable wear limits. Get worn brake discs
parts replaced by your approved O2Feel reseller.
Chains and belts
Bike chains undergo natural wear which depends
on how the bike is looked after, maintain and used
(cycling, rain, dirt, salt etc.).
Regularly clean the chain and belts and lubricate
the chain to extend its life.
Have these parts replaced by your approved
O2Feel reseller when the acceptable wear limit is
reached. A belt does not last as long as a chain.
Derailleur pulleys and cogs
If a bike is fitted with a rear derailleur, the derailleur
pulleys and cogs undergo natural wear. The level
of wear depends on how the bike is looked after,
maintain and used (cycling, rain, dirt, salt etc.).
Clean and lubricate these parts regularly to extend
their life.
Have them replaced by your approved O2Feel
reseller when the acceptable wear limit is reached.
Grips
Grips experience natural wear. This is why they
need to be replaced.
Make sure that the grips are positioned correctly
on a regular basis. Consider having them checked
by your approved O2Feel reseller.
Hydraulic oils and lubricants
Hydraulic oils and lubricants become less effective
over time. Failure to change the lubricants
regularly increases wear on the components and
bearings in question.
Clean all the components and bearings in question
and lubricate them again regularly.
Have the brake fluid for your disc brakes checked
and replaced regularly by your approved O2Feel
reseller. We recommend bleeding the brake lines
annually.
Brake and gear cables
Make sure you check all cables regularly.
Get faulty parts replaced by your approved O2Feel
reseller. This might be particularly important if your
bike is left outside regularly and exposed to bad
weather.
