Tungsten electrodes must always be ground in
longitudinal direction, as grinding scores running
transversely result in an unsteady electric arc.
The top of the electrode for DC welding must be
and remain pointed like a pencil. The tip angle
here depends on the welding current strength. For
DC welding it is sufficient to slightly grind the edge
of the electrode. A round to slightly crowned form
develops after a short time.
Attention!
If the electrode tip is contaminated by touching the
weld pool or the stick electrode, this part must be
completely ground off and the electrode tip ground
to a point again. Grind in longitudinal direction!
Connect the workpiece lead
Connect the workpiece lead to the vacant –ve
[3] or +ve [4] socket and secure the lead by
turning the cable in a clockwise direction.
Connecting the earthing clamp
The earthing clamp must be located in the
immediate vicinity of the welding point so that the
welding current cannot find its own way back via
machine parts, ball bearings or electrical circuits.
Fasten the ground clamp to the welding bench or
workpiece.

Danger due to electrical voltage
When working on live components
Â
there is a risk of death due to electric
shock.
The mains voltage and tolerance, and
¾
the fuse rating must correspond to the
technical data.
The machine is suitable for operation with mains
current or with a current generator.
Insert the mains plug into the corresponding plug
socket.
Start-up
Before switching on, ensure that the electrode or
electrode holder is not in contact with the welding
bench, workpiece or other electrically conductive
object so that an arc is not struck unintentionally
when switching on.
Attention!
An unintentionally struck arc can damage the elec-
trode holder, welding bench, workpiece or device.

Button Menu/ancillary parameters [8]
Used to call the ancillary parameters.
7 segment display [9]
Indicates the selected welding current.
If ancillary parameters are selected, the code and
the set value of the ancillary parameter are dis-
played alternately.
Fault LED [10]
Lights up if the system overheats; striking an arc is
not possible.
Once the system is switched on, the LED flashes as
a self-test.
