Producing the concrete mix
The concrete used should correspond to strength class C30/37.
You will need the following materials:
•
Portland cement e.g. CEM I 32.5
•
Gravel or grit with a grain size 0-32 mm
Mix 3 parts gravel and 1 part cement and mix it with water to create a slightly creamy concrete mixture. This must not
become too liquid.
Use a drum concrete mixer to guarantee a constant concrete quality. The concrete should flow slightly when poured. This
means that major compaction work during filling is not necessary; light poking or prodding with a stick is recommended.
4.4 Installation
-
To install the wall safe, place it in the recess, wedge it in place and align it vertically.
Always check the correct installation position with a spirit level. After alignment and wedging, the safe door
must neither slam shut nor move outwards on its own.
Tip: In order to ensure a uniform concrete underlay of at least 100 mm, we recommend that the wall safe be
set to small - at least 100 mm high - metal profiles (e.g. an angle profile, a T-profile or a U-profile).
-
Close the safe door and cover the front of the wall safe (door, door frame and the door gap) with foil so that it
is waterproof to protect it from contamination during the construction phase.
-
Now board the areas above, below, left and right between the safe and the wall opening.
The concrete must be poured evenly from above into the cavity between the safe and the wall.
Tip: The filling process is made easier if you attach a sloping chute to the upper formwork as a filling opening,
or slightly enlarge or slant the wall opening in this area towards the top. It may also make sense to place the
top formwork only after the concrete has been poured.
-
Carefully fill in the concrete layer by layer into the cavities around the safe. Whilst doing so, compact the
concrete to ensure that no bubbles or cavities are created. Light hammer blows with a rubber mallet on the
formwork boards or poking and prodding with a stick will help. Make sure that the concrete has also spread
under the safe.
-
When filling with concrete, the safe door should remain closed and only be opened again after at least 48 hours
(concrete curing time).
