Operating and installation instructions
FOX – Wall Safe with electronic lock
3. Operation
Make sure to check the proper function of your safe (opening and closing the door, changing the numerical code on
the safe lock if necessary) before setting it in concrete!
The safe is equipped with an electronic lock with emergency opening function.
3.1 Commissioning/opening and closing/changing the code
Please be sure to read the operating instructions for the electronic lock EG (point 7 of these instructions) before
putting your safe into operation. In it you will find all the important information for commissioning your safe and for
operating your safe lock.
IMPORTANT: Please change the pre-set factory code and replace it with a code of your choice. When
changing the numerical code, the door must always be open. With the door open, check whether the
new numerical code works.
3.2 Key loss:
(Emergency opening key)
You receive 2 emergency opening keys as standard. If one or more keys are lost, we recommend replacing the lock for
security reasons.
4. Installation instructions for setting into a concrete wall
4.1 General
Installing your wall safe according to these installation instructions is simple and easy to carry out with some basic
technical knowledge. However, if you are not confident that you can install the wall properly yourself, please commission
a specialist company so that no consequential damage occurs.
The safe achieves its optimum protective function only after being embedded in concrete in a load-bearing building
structure; the wall safe should be encased in at least 100 mm of concrete.
We recommend installing the unit in an interior wall. Installation in an external wall is possible, but not practical. When
installing in an external wall, please note that you may create an additional thermal bridge around the wall safe. Without
proper insulation measures, condensation water can form in the safe.
NOTE: Before setting it in concrete, be sure to note that the door may cause the wall safe to be top-
heavy. Please take special care when opening the safe door.
4.2
Preparation
-
First check all functions of the wall safe. Make sure that the top of the safe is also at the top.
-
Ensure that no moisture can penetrate the door in the area around the keyhole during concreting. Tape this
area in a waterproof way to avoid malfunctions of the lock.
-
As the wall safe needs to be surrounded on all sides by a concrete layer at least 100 mm thick, the recess in the
wall must be at least 100 mm larger all round than the external dimensions of the
safe (see Figure 1).
-
Make sure that the wall opening, in which the wall safe is to be set, does not have smooth walls. The more
uneven the recess is, the better the concrete anchors to the walls.
Tip: When chiselling out, creating a slightly wedge-shaped form with a wider back wall makes it even more
difficult to pull out the safe.
-
The outer sheet metal joints can be sealed on all sides to protect against moisture penetrating into the safe
interior. Use a suitable permanently elastic spray agent such as silicone.
-
The walls of the safe can be braced with e.g. squared lumber to prevent them from bending inwards while they
are being set in concrete.
