9.2.3 Connection of the flue
In an existing situation the flue can be connected in 3 ways: without venting material, using a fixed connection or
by using a flexible connection.
Not all connection methods are allowed in all countries! Install the appliance strictly according to the
!CAUTION
country-specific conditions.
For the method without venting material you must create an airtight connection with ceramic wool between
the top side of the fire and the chimney.
When making a fixed connection use must be made of the specially developed tapered ring or the draining
flex/fix connecting piece. This is available through your supplier.
Proceed as follows (see Appendix 2, Fig. 6a to 6c):
Ø
Fix the ring/connecting piece using 3 bolts on the top side of the appliance.
Ø
Fit the appliance.
Ø
Slide the pipe over the tapered ring or into the draining flex/fix connecting piece.
A draining flex/fix connecting piece is available for a flexible connection.
Proceed as follows (see Appendix 2, Fig. 6a to 6c):
Ø
Pull the flexible pipe through the chimney.
Ø
Fix the draining flex/fix connecting piece using 3 self-tapping screws to the flexible pipe.
Ø
Push the flexible pipe including connecting piece back in the chimney.
Ø
Slide the fire into place.
Ø
Remove the flame baffle plate if this is already in the correct place in the top of the appliance
(see paragraph 9.4.1.2 / 9.5.1.2).
Ø
Insert a hand through the flue hole and grasp the connecting piece handle.
Ø
Pull the flexible pipe with the connecting piece downwards.
Ø
Fasten the flexible connecting piece to the appliance with 3 bolts.
The handle in the flexible connecting piece (see Appendix 2, Fig. 6b) can be broken out after installation. This is
!Caution
not necessary but can be desirable for sweeping the chimney.
The draining flex/fix connecting piece can be used to make both a flexible or fixed connection.
Tip!
With a fixed connection the pipe material lowers fully into the connecting piece, with a flexible connection only
!Caution
half of it (see Appendix 2, Fig. 6c).
9.3 Door adjustment
Check the closing of the door during installation or maintenance. The door can be adjusted if desired. This will be
the case if sealing is insufficient (gaps).
Ø
Check the sealing of the door by placing a sheet of paper between the door and the fire. After closing the door, it
should not be possible to pull out the sheet of paper easily. Check the outside of the fire.
Proceed as follows when adjusting the door:
Ø
Loosen the 2 hexagonal bolts on the top and bottom side of the non-hinging part of the door with an open-end
spanner by one turn (see Annex 2, fig. 10).
Do not fully remove these bolts!
!Caution
Ø
The door can now be adjusted.
Ø
Check whether the door still seals well, using the test with a sheet of paper described above.
Ø
Tighten the bolts again.
