operation on a surface that is insulating (e.g. polystyrene). There is a risk of heat built up!
•
If you wish to charge a vehicle battery in the installed state, first park the vehicle safely, put on the parking break and
switch off the ignition. Cut the battery off from the on-board network of your vehicle. To do this, consult the manual for
your vehicle, or ask your specialist workshop.
•
Only hold the power supply at the power plug when disconnecting from the power socket.
•
Do not expose the charger to fire, heat and long-exposures to temperatures in excess of +40°C!
•
Store these instructions carefully and, if necessary, pass them on to other users.
6. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 PREPARATION OF THE BATTERY
Clean the battery poles from dust and corrosion residue. In case of maintenance-free batteries, please follow the instructions of the battery
manufacturer to the letter.
6.2 CONNECTING THE BATTERY MAINTENANCE DEVICE
Caution: Ensure that the battery maintenance device is not connected to the power socket. Always connect the red positive
cable (+) of the charger to the positive pole of the battery first. Then connect the black minus-cable (-) to the minus pole of
the battery. If you charge the battery in situ, connect the black negative cable (-) to the car body, far away from the battery, the
carburettor and fuel lines. Always stick to this sequence.
6.3 PROTECTION FROM CONNECTION TO THE WRONG POLE
This device is protected against accidental incorrect connection. If the pole clamps are connected incorrectly and the power supply plugged in,
the control LEDs will not light up.
6.4 CHARGING OF BATTERY
Now, connect the power supply of the battery maintenance device to the main socket. The charging process is now started and the control LEDs
„CHARGING" and „POWER" light up. The charger determines when the battery voltage has reached a value of 13.5 Volts. It ends the charging
process and switches over to maintenance charge (the green „CHARGING" LED flashes). When the measured value is 13 Volts, the charging
process is started again. Finish the charging process by disconnect the power supply of the battery maintenance device from the mains socket.
6.5 REMOVING THE CHARGER
Caution: First pull the plug out of the socket and observe the following sequence for disconnection. This prevent the generation
of sparks. Since charging generates a detonating gas, this is particularly important for the sake of your safety. Separate the bat-
tery maintenance device from the supply network. Then, remove the connection of the black clamp (-). Now, remove the battery
clamp from the positive pole (+) of the battery.
7. MAINTENANCE AND CARE
7.1 MAINTENANCE
If used correctly, the device is maintenance-free.
7.2 CARE
Clean the pole callipers every time the charging procedure is completed. Carefully clean the device with a dry cloth. Do not use liquids or che-
mical cleaning agents. Never submerge the device in liquids. Never allow liquid to flow over the device. Properly roll up the cable before storing
the device to prevent damage to the cables and the device. Store the device in a dry and clean location.
8. NOTES REGARDING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Do not put electrical devices into the household waste! Electronic and electrical devices must be collected separately and sent for
environmentally friendly recycling. Please contact your community or city administration regarding disposal options for elec-
tronic scrap.
