Technical description
The split charge relay is an automatic management system for 2 batteries with the same or different capacity or
technology.
Based on the measured input and output voltage and current, 2 interlocking relays can be activated
automatically or manually to distribute the workload to one or both batteries depending on the load.
The split charge relay is equipped with a battery disconnection function that prevents the battery from
discharging below the voltage limit of 10.5 V or the voltage remaining below 11 V for more than 15 min.
Automatic mode
During the discharging phase the split charging relay activates the use of the battery with the highest voltage.
When the battery voltage reaches the voltage limit defined by the specified voltage limit and is below the state
of charge of the other battery, the split-charger relay deactivates the use of the battery and activates the other
battery. The voltage and current data are saved. Aer activating the other battery, the voltage and current check
continues to decide which battery needs to be used. If necessary, both batteries can be used simultaneously,
e.g. when using a load with a consumption of > 25 A. The split charge relay ensures that the batteries remain in
the same state of charge.
If the voltage of both batteries falls below 10.5 V or bellow 11 V for more than 15 min, the split charging relay
disconnects the batteries and warns with a sound.
In the charging phase, the batteries are charged simultaneously. If the batteries have reached a capacity of
90 % and the connected load has a consumption of less than 10 A, the batteries are then charged separately,
depending on which battery is used. If the load is greater than 10 A, the batteries will continue to be charged
simultaneously to maintain the same state of charge.
Manual mode
In the manual mode a remote control can be used to set whether one battery or both batteries should be used.
Remote control
The remote control is required for the manual mode, changing the mode, and for disconnecting the 2 batteries
from the split charging relay.
