9. Measuring mode

Never exceed the maximum permitted input values. Never touch circuits or parts of circuits when
they may contain voltages greater than 33 V/ACrms 75 V/DC! Danger to life!
Before making measurements, check the connected measuring leads for damage such as cuts,
cracks or pinches. Defective measuring leads must no longer be used. Danger to life!
During measuring, do not touch beyond the tactile grip range markings on the test probes.
Only the two measuring leads required for measuring operation may be connected to the meter
at any time. For safety reasons, remove all unnecessary measuring leads from the device before
taking a measurement.
If the measuring range is exceeded, an overflow is shown on the display. This indication is signalled by "I"
on VC 130-1. Select the next higher measuring range.
T he voltage range "V/DC" has an input resistance of >10 MΩ, the V/AC range >4.5 MΩ.
a) Voltage measurement "V"
Before measuring voltages, always make sure that the measuring instrument is not set to a measuring range for
currents.
Proceed as follows to measure "DC" voltages (V
- S witch the DMM on with the "POWER" button (3). Select the measuring range "V
- Connect the black measuring lead to the COM socket (5) and the red measuring lead to the V socket (8)
- Connect the two measuring probes to the object to be measured (battery, switch, etc.).
Connect the red probe tip to the positive terminal and the black probe tip to the negative terminal.
- The polarity of the measurement is indicated on the display.
If "-" appears in front of a direct voltage measurement, this indicates that the measured voltage is negative
(or that the measuring probes have been connected in reverse).
- A fter measuring, remove the measuring leads from the measured object and switch off the DMM at the "POWER"
button (3).
Proceed as follows to measure "AC" voltages (V
- Start up the DMM as described under "Measuring DC voltage" and select the measuring range "V
appear on the display.
- Connect the two measuring probesto the object to be measured (e.g. generator, circuit, etc.).
- The measured value appears on the display.
- A fter measuring, remove the measuring leads from the measured object and switch off the DMM at the "POWER"
button (3).
