EN User Guide
• If such a device is not used, the tool should
be lubricated by interrupting the air supply
to the tool and depressurising the line by
pressing the trigger on the tool.
• Disconnect the air line and pour a teaspoon
(~5 ml) of a suitable pneumatic motor
lubricating oil (that preferably contains rust
protection and is at least free of resin and
acid) into the intake sleeve.
• Reconnect the device to the air supply and
let it run slowly for a few seconds so that
the oil can circulate through the air. During
this process, also hold a cloth against the
air outlet to collect any excess oil.
• If the device is used frequently, becomes
slow, or loses power, lubricate it daily.
Likewise, lubricate it again if it has not been
used for a prolonged period.
• When lubricating, also make sure that the
sieve in the intake sleeve is clean!
Undoing
Attach the correctly sized socket to the
anvil. Set the pressure regulator of the
compressor to 6.3 bar / 90 psi. Connect the
tool to the compressor hose. If you notice a
leak, disconnect the air hose and secure it
properly before use. Place the socket on the
nut to loosen it. Hold the tool firmly.
Tightening
Make sure that the nut or bolt you want to
tighten with the tool will withstand the
nominal torque. Tighten the nut as far as
you can by hand. Place the socket on the
nut. Push the switching valve forwards so
that it protrudes from the housing at the
front. Press the trigger to start the tool.
Operation
The power of the impact wrench when it is
ready for operation is mainly determined by
four factors:
e) The inlet air pressure
f)
The time the impact wrench is operated
on the joint.
g) The normal time required for joints with
average tension is 3 to 5 seconds.
h) The setting of the air regulator for a
given joint at a given pressure, operated
for a given time.
STIER Industrial GmbH
The air regulator can be used to regulate the
power of the impact wrench if no other control
is available. It is strongly recommended that
you use an external pressure regulator,
ideally as part of a filter/regulator/lubricator
(FRL), to regulate the air inlet pressure so that
the pressure can be adjusted to help control
the required tension to be applied to the
screw joint. The air regulator can be used,
however, to set the torque to the approximate
tightness of the known threaded joint. To set
the tool to the desired torque, select a nut or
bolt with a known tightening torque that has
the
same
size,
characteristics as the bolt to be worked on.
Turn the air regulator to the low position,
place the socket on the nut and gradually
increase the power (turn the regulator to
supply more air) until the nut moves slightly in
the direction originally set. The tool is now set
to duplicate this tightening force; note the
regulator setting for future use. If the sealing
nuts do not require critical torque values, run
the nut flush and then tighten it by an
additional quarter to half turn (a slight
additional turn is required when installing
seals). For the additional force required during
disassembly, turn the regulator to its fully
open position. For spring-loaded U-bolts, tie
bolts,
long
cylinder
countersunk screws in a highly rusted
condition and spring-loaded fasteners, the
power must be reduced as they absorb much
of the impact force. If possible, clamp or
wedge the bolt to prevent springback. Soak
rusty nuts in penetrating oil and break the
rust seal before removing them with the
impact wrench. If the nut does not move
within three to five seconds, use a large
impact wrench. Do not use the impact wrench
beyond its rated power, as this will drastically
reduce the tool life.
