Product description
This chapter provides information on the special features and
properties, the operating principle, the structure and the function as
well as the various operating modes of the L4000 system.
Please read this chapter before mounting, installing and
commissioning the L4000 system.
3.1
Special features
Protection with either internal or external (realised on the machine)
restart interlock,
Optional external device monitoring (EDM),
Connection of up to 8 sensor pairs (standard: 4, cascading: 8),
Diagnostics with 7-segment display.
3.2
Operating principles of the device
The L4000 system comprises the safety evaluation device UE401 to
which up to 4 L4000/L400 sensors (sender/receiver combinations)
can be connected as individual pairs, or up 8 sensors can be
connected in cascade.
The safety evaluation device UE401 represents the connecting
element between sensors and machine controller.
The L4000 system provides the following operating modes
With restart interlock/with external device monitoring
With restart interlock/without external device monitoring
Without restart interlock/with external device monitoring
Without restart interlock/without external device monitoring
The status as delivered is
With restart interlock/with external device monitoring.
Setting the operating mode is described in chapter 5 "Electrical
installation".
