SKIN AGING MECHANISMS AND INTENDED USE
2.1. Skin aging mechanisms
Aging, whether genetic, hormonal or caused by repetitive facial movements, is a natural process for humans. In the first 25 years of life, our bodies
are able to fight against this phenomenon, but during the second stage of life (age 25-50), our immune system begins to weaken and generate
free radicals* that harm our tissues. The functional capacities of the mitochondria** diminish, creating an imbalance between excess free radicals
and insufficient antioxidant production or ingestion. This imbalance is known as oxidative stress.
We also undergo actinic*** aging caused by: the sun's UVA and UVB rays; stress factors (noise, lack of sleep, disease); the effects of climate
(cold, wind, heat); air pollution (tobacco smoke, exhaust emissions, ozone, hydrocarbons, solvents); and food pollution (pesticides, detergents,
pyrolyzed amino acids found in fried foods), all of which are harmful to our bodies.
All of these exogenous and endogenous factors provoke structural, functional and morphological modifications in the skin, with visible
consequences including wrinkles and fine lines, slackening, puffy eyes, redness, scars and a dull complexion.

The myLEDmask is intended to bring aesthetic benefit to the face and neck: targets wrinkles.
