Thank you for having selected a Tsurumi submersible pump.
For full benefit of this equipment, you should read, before use, the following points which are necessary for safety and
reliability.
PRIOR TO OPERATION
1. Unpacking and Inspection
a)
Lift or suspend the pump by its handle, never by the cable.
b)
Check nameplate information to make sure it matches what you ordered.
c)
Check that the pump suffered no shipping damage.
2. Power Source
a) Make sure that the voltage and the frequency match that of the pump; generating sets are prone to
inaccuracy on this count.
b) make sure that the power supply is checked by an electrician, o.a. for good condition and perfect
grounding.
CAUTION:
DO NOT OPERATE THIS PUMP UNLESS IT IS CONNECTED TO A PROPERLY
WIRED GROUNDING CIRCUIT SINCE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY MAY RESULT
FROM ELECTRIC SHOCK.
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
a)
Attach a rope to the pump. Set the pump on a solid, ample, horizontal base or suspend it from its handle
by a rope. Never suspend or lift it by its cable. Letting the pump burrow itself in sand will ruin it.
NOTE: LSC must be filled with water before it is started.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE THE CABLE TO SUSPEND THE PUMP.
ALWAYS ATTACH SUSPENSION CORD TO THE PUMP HANDLE.
b)
Make sure that the source of power is above flood level and away from the pump and its discharge
conduit (hose or pipe), to prevent accidental shock or short circuit.
c)
When cable extension is necessary, extended cable size must be adequate to avoid low voltage
conditions in the cable, which may cause motor burn out.
Select proper core size and minimum length of the extension in order not to cause a large voltage drop.
If you are not sure consult with the Tsurumi representative office or the Tsurumi
supplier nearest to you.
NOTE:
WHEN EXTENDING THE CABLE BE CAREFUL NOT TO SUBMERGE THE
CONNECTION INTO THE WATER TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF
ELECTRIC SHOCK
d)
Do not use the pump in swimming pools, bath tubs or other basins used by persons in order to avoid
injuries.
e)
Don´t use the pump in an explosive atmosphere or in water that might contain traces of a flammable
liquid or gas. Don´t use the pump in a liquid which may effect the pump´s materials. Don´t use the OM(A) models in
sandy water.
f)
Avoid long dry running in air, the pump´s life might be reduced by the buildup of heat.
g)
Do not use the pump in such a way that the motor section appears in the air above water level. Also do
not operate the pump in water at more than 40°C, or the motor will overheat and the lifetime of
the pump shortened.
h)
The motor switches itself off when drawing too much current or overheating, then switches itself on when
cooled down. If you don´t correct the cause, the switching goes on indefinitely and the pump will be
damaged. The commonest causes are too much solid matter in the water and low voltage (or inexact
frequency of generating set).
i)
Don´t hesitate to consult your Tsurumi dealer to ask for advice.
NOTE: UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS MUST NOT DISASSEMBLE OR ASSEMBLE THE
PUMP SINCE IT MIGHT LEAD TO INJURIES AND RESULT IN REDUCTION OF CAPACITY
OR MOTOR DAMAGE
MAINTENANCE
a)
Your pump (except model OM(A)) will handle muddy water well. Models LB and HS
are up to the standard of the very best large pumps. Avoid pumping large quantities of sand. Keep in
mind that burying itself in earth would ruin the pump.
b)
Don´t leave your pump where it will needlessly be subjected to corrosion. Rinse it and store it in a dry
place when not in use for a long time.
