11. Maintenance
Regularly check the technical safety of the car radio, e.g. for damage of the cables or the housing.
If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the product must be turned off and precau-
tions must be taken to ensure that it is not used unintentionally. Disconnect the car power system!
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
• the product exhibits visible damage
• if the device does not function, or
• following considerable mechanical stress
Before cleaning the car radio or performing maintenance, the following safety notes must be observed:
Live components may be exposed, when the covering is opened or components are removed.
Prior to start of maintenance or repair works, the device must be disconnected from all voltage
sources.
Capacitors in the device can still carry a charge even if the device has been disconnected from
all voltage sources.
Only qualified experts familiar with the hazards involved and the relevant regulations may per-
form repairs.
a) Replacing the fuses
If it becomes necessary to replace a fuse, make sure that only fuses of the prescribed type and nominal
current are used (see „Technical Data").
Do not repair fuses or bridge the fuse holder.
• When the power supply has been disconnected (disconnect ISO plug!) carefully remove the fuse from
the fuse holder next to the ISO plug.
• Replace it with a fuse of the same type.
• Only then you may reconnect the car radio to the car power system and place it back into operation.
• Should the fuse trip again, have the device repaired in a specialist workshop.
b) Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the device only with a soft, dry cloth or brush.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions; this may damage the surface of the casing.
