Setting the Thread Tension
Test the type of stitch ideally using a piece of fabric which you later want to machine.
•
For heavy fabric, for example, a lower thread tension is required. If the stitches are too tight,
the thread tension has been set too high. Turn the thread tension regulator (1) anticlockwise
to ease the tension.
•
With light fabrics, a higher thread tension is required. If the stitches are too loose, the thread
tension has been set too low. Turn the thread tension regulator clockwise to increase the
tension.

CAUTION!
❐ Make sure that the threads are correctly threaded! Incorrect thread guidance can cause the
thread to rip, stitches can be missed, or the fabric may curl along the seam. Under some
circumstances, the device might be damaged.
❐ Practise fi rst on a scrap piece of fabric before you start the actual sewing. Check the thread
tension.
❐ The thread and fabric must be inserted in the sewing machine correctly before you activate
the On/Off switch (4). Once you activate the On/Off switch, the machine starts sewing
immediately.
❐ Danger of injury! Keep fi ngers away from all moving parts. Special care should be taken in
the area of the sewing needle.
❐ Do not leave the device switched on for longer than 10 seconds without interruption. Pause
for around 5 seconds before you switch it on again.
You can use the hand-operated sewing machine to sew fabrics with the straight stitch.

1. Make sure that the On/Off switch (4) is as far as it will go in the
"Aus" (off) position.
2. Raise the needle to its highest position by turning the hand-
wheel (7).
3. Raise up the fabric clamp (12), place the fabric to be machined
between the fabric clamp and the needle plate (11) and lower
the fabric clamp. PLEASE NOTE: During sewing, the fabric
will be transported to the left. This is why it must be placed into
the sewing machine at the left end.
4. Pull the threaded yarn (see the "Threading" section) out around
5 cm.
